My wife and myself stayed here for three nights in August. We were hoping for a country chateau experience but found a modern hotel built in the grounds (which are very pretty) of an old chateau. The rooms are in a purpose-built block with the breakfast room. The rooms are beautiful modern duplex affairs with the bed on a mezzanine.Breakfast... more

We booked this hotel through the Relais de Silence website which was cheaper than booking directly - the hotel couldn't match the Relais deal! We were driving down to the South of France and the hotel is just off the motorway. The room was fabulous - very spacious, recently refurbished, lovely bathroom - a lovely place to spend the evening.... more

Hotel was recommended by a colleague who had waxed lyrical about a romantic trip he and wife had taken, I forgot to ask how long ago. Lovely old building in peaceful location in beautiful Beaujolais with stunningly well kept yew topiary gardens. Rooms are badly dated but comfortable. Main reception rooms also need massive update. There is something very 70s... more

We stayed at the Chateau de Pizay in mid September, 2007. This was our second stay there and this time, instead of the rather too modern rooms rather like a motel in the pool area, we stayed in one of the "dépendances du chàteau". The room was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom luxurious and the furnishings great, including a large... more

We have stayed several times at Pizay and always return. It is in such a beautiful setting. The hotel is always quiet and peaceful, even when full as it was this Sept (the Georgia Rugby team were staying). The welcome is warm and the restaurant very good. Such delicious and imaginative meals, well served. Breakfast was especially good. We stayed... more

Before we left England I was in two minds whether to cancel this hotel after reading previous reviews. On arrival our spirits lifted as the position of the hotel is lovely. Thr receptionist was charming and although we had booked one of the cheaper pavilion rooms we were not too disappointed for the price we had paid. Although rather dated... more

My husband and I stayed at the Chateau for two days in April as I'd received the stay (and ownership of some of the vines) as a birthday present from my family. The arrival was not a relaxed affair - be warned there is one Pizay on the map of France but it's south east of Lyon so having arrived... more

The setting of the hotel is stunning and it is surrounded by its own vineyards in the wonderful Beaujolais countryside. The reception one receives is rather stodgy and officious but though not a major turn-off could be better. There are two types of rooms, those attached to the chateau itself which are more expensive and traditional (I now wish I... more

We stayed in one of the Chateau wing rooms for 2 nights in September. Our ground floor room (cheaper than the first floor) had a terrace area outside with chairs and a table. This was a lovely sun-trap and you even occasionally get a pea-hen wandering through! The decor in these rooms is more traditional, but they are still bright... more

We have been staying at the Chateau for years. For us it happens to be a convenient stopping off place driving throught France. We have previously stayed in the modern bungalows grouped around the swimming pool. Basic with the bed on a mezzanine floor. Nice little terrace outside - go for one facing the pool much cooler and better views... more
