We stayed at this hotel at the end of our 12-day Alaskan cruise / land tour. This hotel is top-notch. I had read that the rooms were dark and dated, but that could not be further from the truth. Perhaps they were recently renovated, but both rooms my family had were bright and airy and spotless. The hotel is centrally... More

I am used to travel a lot and I am also used to the many hassels coming with booking a hotel. However, our recent experience at the Captain Cook was the worst I ever had in travelling for business or private reasons in the last 10 years. Just recently we finished a two-week trip in Alaska and made a reservation at... More

I had stayed at the Captain Cook when I was a little girl growing up in Kenai. When we were planning a trip to back to Alaska 35 years later I knew the Captain Cook had to be part of our trip. I was not disappointed. The CC was still in great shape. The room was fantastic. We loved walking... More

We cheched in July 25, 2014. The front desk assigned the room on 3rd floor. The downstair makes noise till early morning 2a.m. The nise kept my wife awake all night long. The most redicular thing was the surge a $114 of breakfirst on my bill while I checked out this morning at 5 a.m. And head to Katmai NP.... More

This hotel was arranged through our cruise ship (Princess) as it arranged transfers to/from the hotel. The hotel was fine. It probably is the largest there. It is pretty well located and within walking distance of most attractions. The room was clean, spacious but nothing special. The staff were OK except for one bell man who was great in his... More

The Capt. Cook is a landmark in downtown Anchorage, I've been staying here off and on now for twenty-five years. The hotel is a solid hotel in both service and room size. Having different food options on property is a plus. For the Mrs' there are some great shops on the ground floor in which to shop. For all the... More

We have stayed at the Captain Cook Hotel now three times. It is one of the largest hotels in Anchorage. It has been there a long time but it is top notch. It has several restaurants, gift stores and shops, our dinner was excellent. It is very clean, within walking distance to most sights and quite comfortable.

This was our last night in Alaska after 3 nights at Princess lodges in Denali & Mount McKinley. In midsummer it does not get dark and the bed rooms in the Princess lodges were paper thin so sleeping was challenging. Decent block out curtains ensured we had a reasonable sleep before the 36 hour journey home. The décor is very... More

Location - Excellent. Although most of the tourist attractions and restaurant hubs are located fairly close together in downtown Anchorage, we felt super close to everything (the parking garage was across the street, the convention center and transportation center were all within short walking distances of the hotel). If you are mobile, you can easily arrive at the Anchorage airport,... More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the end of June. It is an older hotel but grand - in my 9yr old daughter's words "fancy". In my online reservation I had requested their best room with best views on higher floor. Got a corner room in Tower 2 on the 15th floor with great views of the... More
