We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights for a conference. The location is perfect in downtown. Close to the coastal trail and restaurants, We had a nice 17th floor room with a great view. Old may mean more character but it is a little tired. Typical nickel and diming approach for everything. $5/day to use the athletic club. Wifi... More

This appears to be an older property but it looks like it is being run as it should be. Upscale bars and restaurants on the premises and it is in a great and downtown location. I don't see too many other options in Anchorage so I guess this is the place.

We were 4 ladies sharing a room for one nite prior to beginning our Alaskan Adventure. The Captain Cook was perfectly located to allow us to walk to dinner. The beds & the linens were wonderful and we slept very well. Bathroom was small but clean tho. Our morning breakfast at their cafe was quite good...but the very best part... More

This hotel is very nice and clean but very dated for the price. It is in need of refurbishing soon. Our room had a very old tube TV and furnishings. The location is very good as it is near downtown and the train station but you will still need a cab for the train. Downtown Anchorage is a great place... More

I recently stayed at this Hotel when starting an Alaskan Cruise. The hotel was beautiful, rooms clean and good size centrally located near Main Street. My only complaint was there was an additional charge to use the gym and pool. For what they charge a night this should be included.

Pros: Good location, right in the centre of downtown and walking distance to the local bars, shops, and restaurants. Great view from top bar/restaurant Cons: overpriced and outdated. Missing normal amenities especially for its high price point. Stingy customer service at the sky bar for trying to enjoy the view.

I lived a lifetime in Alaska before moving to Washington DC and I've been in the Captain Cook Hotel for no fewer than 100 events. But I never stayed in a room until I visted last month. In short, the room was old and needed help. The decor was a bit too retro and tired. Yes, it was clean enough... More

What a shock! What used to be the premier hotel in Anchorage has quit trying. Our room, decorated dowdily in the extreme (so beige that a khaki wearer would risk getting mistaken for the wallpaper), missing little things like a plastic plate on the telephone indicating what numbers to dial and replaced with magic marker abbreviations, something that would have... We arrived in Anchorage after a long day of flying and we were welcomed to the Captain Cook by a wonderful staff and our room was excellent - so very clean and exceptionally nice. What a relief to get some rest and relaxation.

Hotel is very central for shopping, both tourist and other (5th Avenue Mall is just up the road), and for walking around Anchorage. Beds are comfortable and the rooms are spacious and have coffee making facilities. We were a bit surprised that they came to clean our room before we had checked out (we did send them away!). We has... More
