We have stayed at the Captain Cook Hotel now three times. It is one of the largest hotels in Anchorage. It has been there a long time but it is top notch. It has several restaurants, gift stores and shops, our dinner was excellent. It is very clean, within walking distance to most sights and quite comfortable.

This was our last night in Alaska after 3 nights at Princess lodges in Denali & Mount McKinley. In midsummer it does not get dark and the bed rooms in the Princess lodges were paper thin so sleeping was challenging. Decent block out curtains ensured we had a reasonable sleep before the 36 hour journey home. The décor is very... More

Location - Excellent. Although most of the tourist attractions and restaurant hubs are located fairly close together in downtown Anchorage, we felt super close to everything (the parking garage was across the street, the convention center and transportation center were all within short walking distances of the hotel). If you are mobile, you can easily arrive at the Anchorage airport,... More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the end of June. It is an older hotel but grand - in my 9yr old daughter's words "fancy". In my online reservation I had requested their best room with best views on higher floor. Got a corner room in Tower 2 on the 15th floor with great views of the... More

I can't say enough positives about this property! I was there for a conference and a vacation! The staff who assisted with the conference were more than helpful! The restaurant folks, the maids, the front desk, and the concierge were helpful pleasant and fun! Enjoyed working with Teddy, Jay, Brian, Chip and all the great people who work for them!... More

First impressions after a 16 hour journey were of an old-fashioned, slightly dated room but on closer inspection this was unfair and had more to do with the colour scheme than with its age: brown wooden furniture, brown upholstered armchair, taupe wallpaper, even brown prints on the walls and a brown shower curtain. It could be a bit depressing here... More

We arrived at this hotel at 2:00 a.m. in the morning after a very long day of travel! It was a relief to finally get into bed! There was a bellman available to help us with our bags even at that hour.We had a room on the 117th floor which entitled us to have an awesome breakfast in a room... More

Day 14 of a 15 day Alaska Cruise tour. Our Princess transfer from McKinley Lodge arrived here at approximately 12:15. Princess originally told us rooms would be available by 3, then 3:30, etc. The hotel was blamed. The hotel was apologetic but our entire afternoon here was wasted ! Of course our suitcases are not here yet either. We're certainly... More

I found the location of Captain Cook Hotel to be in the heart of the tourist area in Anchorage. Convenient to walk to good dining and shopping options. Parking was pricey as with most of the immediate area. Hotel lobby, dining and shopping in the hotel stores were excellent. Hotel is not shiny and new but is maintained well. Dinner... More

We stayed here one night as part of our land tour portion of an Alaska cruise package with Princess. The hotel was clean, but beginning to to show signs of aging. The decor was generally "dark" and from the 60's or 70's. Our room was small, but comfortable enough since we were only there one night. Unfortunately the Crows Nest... More
