Enjoyed large quiet room with fireplace and kitchen and free Internet. Able to catch up on laundry with adjoining laundry. Very clean, with lots of art work and convenient library. Walked to grocery and wonderful bakery. Coastal Trail was only a block and rented a bike to bike 10 miles out in wilderness. Host Family was very friendly and helpful... More

Pleasantly surprised with the judge's studio - clean, fresh and airy with large windows opening onto the gardens. Pleasantly surprised with breakfast basket since I expected to have to buy food for breakfast in our private kitchenette. Very well located near international bakery and grocery with small restalurant. Rented bikes and within 5 minutes we were in wilderness on the... More

By calling and making a reservation, I found an unadvertised room under a hundred dollars priced for a single traveller - very clean, comfortable with refrig. and which shared a bathroom with only one other room. I followed the host's suggestions and walked to the Coastal Trail to see the eagle nest. Then I enjoyed European scones and coffee sitting... More

No shoe policy very inconvenient. Entryway, Kitchen and shared bathroom very cluttered, uncomfortable! Did not get a receipt for our payment; when we got home after our trip to AK, realized we had been charged $80 more than the owner quoted.

We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids), and we stayed at this B&B for 2 nights. We paid 175 dollars per night for a 2-queen-bed room (no private bath), but the room plus breakfast was not worth the price. We would not recommend this place for the following 4 reasons. 1) No bed-making and no towel... More

The location was great - within a 5 minute walk of the downtown shopping centers and anchorage Museum. I found the owner to be very friendly, and her and her daughters do a great job keeping the rooms tidy and clean. I especially enjoyed all the Alaskan reading material and the authentic Alaskan 'ambiance' to the rooms- something that is... More

Location, location, location. That's what is good! The rooms smelly musty probably because the suite is 1/2 under ground ["Homes in Alaska have no basement due to permafrost" although we saw a 3-story underground home.] and there is a note telling the occupants to not turn on the exhaust fan in the bathroom because "it makes noise" in the owner's... The chief good points were the cleanliness (despite the clutter), and the kind spirit of the owner. But I would not recommend staying here if you don't like clutter and especially if you have small children. I was not fully comfortable staying at the Bed and Breakfast. I am not comfortable with clutter and the kitchen area was cluttered with... More

Ok, let me start by saying this is my first review, and the only time in my adult life where I have packed up my stuff and left regardless of the no refund policy... Read that policy, by the way, there is a reason there is a 24 hour cancelation for the first night only- but 14 days for additional... More

Stayed in the judges suite, and it was like camping on the floor in a cluttered basement. Towels very musty, even after we washed them ourselves. We finally just bought our own towels. Breakfast was just store bought muffins, yogurt and fruit in frig. Didn't trust it at all, the butter was rancid. Location is great. But Courtyard by Merriot... More

We have received no guest complaints this season - simply nice letters of appreciation. This "review" is typical of past "poisonous reviews" from competitors, and filled with inaccuracies and misrepresentations. Due to permafrost, our homes have no basements. Our Alaskan split entry design (half up and half down) is energy efficient and provides earthquake stability which kept this home safe... More
