I went to Anchorage and I wanted a place to rest and sleep while I was in the city. I find this place really good considering that I was expecting to be in a good place, clean, safe and with affordable prices. The hostel is located midtown and you have a walmart 10 min away...so is very convenient. Tip: If... More

I've stayed in a lot of hostels, and generally I do not have high expectations. I'm very willing to overlook minor inconveniences, but what I experienced at this place was not minor. First of all, the people who run the place (a couple) are extremely rude. They are not the kind of people you want running a hostel. They make... More

We only stayed one night so this review is based only on what we experienced in about 18 hours. We stayed in a double room on the top floor. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. The other rooms on that floor seemed pretty full so there was a bit of a wait for the bathroom - often the... More

My partner and I recently stayed here while travelling in Anchorage. We booked here because of its excellent reviews on Tripadvisor and Hostelworld. Unfortunately for us the reviews were not an accurate representation of the service we received from this place. Before you think we are a pretentious couple, we are not. We have travelled significantly around the world and... More

Thank you for your stay. To address your concerns, there are 4 places in the building that have a sign posted. The dayroom which has signs that cover check in and check out, payment methods and general rules. The kitchen has a small board with rules on it for kitchen use as required by my insurance carrier. The bathroom has... More

Anchorage in the summer is awesome! And, expensive! For instance, a Super 8 motel, which would cost $50 a night in New Mexico where I live, was going for $180 a night in Anchorage. Since our flight was landing at 2:00AM, I felt hesitant to book a hostel, because of the noise we would make coming in and disturbing others... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights and spent the day in Anchorage. This is a great hostel! It was clean and comfortable. Before entering, you needed to take off your shoes, this was nice because it didn't track mud and other debris through the house, and kept the noise level down since people weren't tromping though in heavy... Rooms were clean and comfortable, bathrooms were spotless. Friendly owner is a great source of advice on Alaskan travel destinations, as well as activities in and around Anchorage. No problems for him to organise a taxi, or store stuff between stays. Within walking distance of downtown. Close to Wal-Mart's (supermarket) and REI (outdoor store), making resupply for the next leg... More

This hostel came highly recommended and it was easy to see why. A great price with clean and comfortable rooms to get over jet lag, spotless kitchen and bathrooms and a large and diverse "free food" shelf, secure bicycle storage and a friendly owner who clearly takes pride in his hostel. I would certainly stay here again the next time... More

Arctic is conveniently located two blocks from Walmart where you can pick up anything you may have forgotten. My family and I stayed here at the start of our trip and it was helpful to talk to Jeff and other travelers to gather some ideas. The bathrooms, room and interior are super clean. You have to take shoes off before... More
