It seems everyone has said it all. Carol and her sister were wonderful hostesses - warm, friendly and accomodating. Her breakfast, as said, fantastic. Her garden & flowers- impressive. The location wsn't really a problem. Upstairs she has 3 rooms and common living room with TV, dvds, books, table and a beverage bar with everything you could possibly think of... more

We stayed here for one night in July. Carol is very friendly and was full of tips and hints (and coupons!) for activities in the area. She made sourdough waffles for breakfast with all sorts of toppings, which were amazing -- the best breakfast in Alaska! We stayed in the "Glacier room," which is kind of cramped and has a... more

My husband and I stayed at Big Bear for 4 nights while visiting Anchorage in July. The neighborhood is a bit iffy around the B & B, and had us concerned when we first drove up, but Carol's home is like an oasis. I can't say enough about what a wonderful hostess she is. We stayed in the Glacier Room,... more

My wife and I went to Alaska for our honeymoon in July 08. When booking our vacation, we made a reservation at Big Bear Bed and Breakfast in Anchorage. Carol was so helpful in telling us what the big attractions are in each of the cities we wanted to visit. Carol told us who was the best at the bear... more

We arrived in Anchorage late in the evening and she was as nice as can be about it. The breakfasts were great and Carol had so much information to give us we were busy our 2 days in Anchorage. Make sure if you stay here you ask her to show you the Alaskan items she has for sale, some of... more

We stayed at Big Bear in the Toklat room for 1 night in May. We landed at anchorage around 8 pm, rented a car, and drove to the BnB. The drive was abt 7 miles, and was pretty easy to find. The area didnt seem very nice at first, but the BnB was awesome. Considering it was our stop-over for... more

This was our first stop after we arrived in Alaska. Carol was great. She is a wealth of information and was very helpful in helping us plan our day. She even got up early to take us to the train station with a breakfast of salmon Quiche all packaged and ready to go. She has her own garden in her... more

We stayed one night at the Big Bear (in the Glacier Room), and were very charmed by the Owner, decor, and genuine Alaskan hospitality! When we got there, Carol was in themidst of canning 50+ lbs of fresh Kenai River salmon -- an experience in itself to observe! Carol was very helpful when we needed to find a place to... more

If anyone has ever traveled to Alaska, you know that it can be quite the expensive venture! If you're a B&B traveler like us, you won't find a better deal than Big Bear in Anchorage!! We ended up getting there a day earlier and unfortunately, Big Bear was already booked that night so we ended up staying in a nearby... more

Our stay at Big Bear at the beginning of June got our Alaska trip off to a wonderful start. Our rooms were very nice -- comfy beds, antique furniture and Alaskan decor. The place is like living in a mini-museum! The meals were outstanding; Carol, your hostess, is a former home ec teacher. (She taught me how to make her... more
