My husband and I are active 30-somethings, and used at Walkabout as our base camp for traveling elsewhere in Alaska. Our experience was extremely pleasant, comfortable, convenient and accommodative; a complete pleasure! The house was homey and Alaskan, probably built in the 70's or 80's, reflecting the owners' deep (and interesting!) connection to the state. Furnishings were basic but comfortable;... More

We spent our first night in Alaska at the Walkabout Town B&B. Although the owners were away, their son, daughter-in-law, and grand-daughter received us and made us feel right at home immediately. The room, the Australian room, was spotless, and very comfortable. The breakfast was tasty, filling, and a great way to start the trip. Highly recommended.

What more could you want? We stayed at the Walkabout Town B&B at the end of our trip, and it was so nice to have a place from where we could walk to downtown Anchorage. (We were sick of driving.) We stayed in the Queen room, which is comfortable, cozy and has an attached bathroom. Breakfast each morning was delicious,... More

We stayed here a singe night before heading south to the Kenai Peninsula . We arrived at 8:30 PM and we were soon settled in the first floor Russian Room (a generous and unexpected upgrade based on availability). This room has a very comfortable king size bed and is adjoined by a private bath. We then headed out for a... More

Very highly recommend the family-run Walkabout B&B. Sandy runs the place with her husband, son and daughter-in-law. Each AM you have breakfast made by another member of the family. It's very, very clean, quiet, and complete (TV, full kitchen, BBQ, washer/dryer, bikes for lending, etc.). Recommendations for hikes, restaurants, and rainy day activities are spot on. And, the neighborhood adjacent... More

I had a consulting gig in Anchorage at the end of May so I went a few days early to explore Alaska. I stayed in this wonderful little B&B with the great hosts Sandy and Terry and their son, Scott. While a little dated, the property is clean and inviting. Comfortable beds, black out shades, good breakfast and wonderful Sandy... More

It was convenient, clean and comfortable with a good breakfast to start our day. We were gone most of the day and returned for rest and sleep at night. We walked to town and back daily - good exercise. A good financial deal compared to hotels and with the personal touch.

We stayed here before going on an Alaskan cruise. We arrived late and the keys were left out for us and labelled clearly. Cosy and clean room and great breakfast. Walking distance to downtown too. All round, can't fault.. Definitely recommend staying here!
