My husband and I needed a place to sleep for a few hours since our flight came in around midnight, and we needed to be in Whittier by 10. We went with a cheap room since we didn't need much except to lay our heads down for a while--big mistake. When we arrived, we checked in and went to our... More

We stayed two nights: before catching the train to Seward and upon our return before catching the train to Fairbanks. We're adventurous travelers and made reservations despite the mixed reviews on Trip Advisor, in part because we didn't look for lodging in Anchorage far enough in advance and there was nothing available at a reasonable price. The first room we... More

We are completing work on some of the rooms, after a remodel that has created some of the most interesting, beautiful and creative rooms you will find anywhere in any hotel. True, the ceiling of the bathroom that you complained about is not finished, and the router is hanging from the ceiling - but the shower is a magnificent four... More

Other than being cheap, I found ZERO redeeming qualities to this fleabag. It's surprising the health department doesn't shutter this rat trap. Note: No, I didn't see any fleas or rats, it's just that those 2 words seemed abundantly apropos as a apt descriptors.

Re-model on-going. The good: water cold and hot on demand; Internet works tho heavy traffic periods quite discernible - wee hours best; Private bath available; Good location; Staff friendly and knowledgeable. The bad: Dirty; No window screens (mosquitos); Non-smoking/alcohol/drug establishment which reeks of smoking; Busy street noise.

Feel free to request a room on the non-street side if you wish. Some people are more sensitive to the street noise than others. We also are completing upgrades to the facilities. I wish you could have noticed or mentioned some of the special features of Qupqugiaq Inn - architecturally fascinating (not to mention unique), and several community features (free... More

I tried to catch a break on the price gouging that happens all over ANC once the cruise season begins. Carpets are nasty, exterior and interior structures are worn out. It also does not feel safe and not in a good neighborhood - homeless in adjacent parking lot. I don't know how it stays in business - everything is old... More

Sorry about your experience. I would like to respond to certain factual errors in your review. We anre just completing a year long remodel in which we added new rooms, corridors, lobby and much more. So it is surprising that you said that "everything is old." We also received and installed 65 pieces of classic modern furniture. Many other pieces... More

We weren't expecting the shared bathroom experience that we had. Going in, we thought this was like a normal hotel but it was more like a B&B. The rooms were small but usable and the bathrooms were a little dirty. Luckily, it was cheap but I would have probably stayed elsewhere.

Wow. Reading some of these reviews I find it hard to believe I stayed in the same place! I had one of the upstairs rooms for 3 or 4 nights. Sure, I was on a budget, and didn't expect the Captain Cook Hotel, and I wasn't there to watch TV, just get a good nights sleep. Internet worked fine for... More

Well not much to add to everyone else, except to say that when we arrived nobody was there in the middle of the afternoon. The key to the room did not work(when we found the worker who was off the premises)on the first morning breakfast was a cup of stale coffee and the second and last day we stayed there... More

We pretty much got what we expected for the price of 60 USD for a double. Bed and bathroom seemed ok, rest of the room was not very clean. Breakfast (included in the price) the next morning was a bit of a mess, because nobody of the staff was around. Some of the cups for drinking were used during the... More
