After spending 15 nights at hotels in various places in Alaska during my very budget conscience first trip to the last frontier, I think the Puffin Inn was a very good deal. The lobby is very new, nice and spotlessly clean. A free continental breakfast (muffins, juice, coffee, milk) is set up every morning the lobby, and their free shuttle seemed to be constantly going to or from the airport, making that first night or last morning in Anchorage a lot easier. I stayed in one of the least expensive rooms, and it was very, very basic but very clean and had a private bath, something not to be assumed of Anchorage hotels!! All in all a very good deal, but remember that there's a reason that the least expensive rooms are the least expensive!
