When we arrived tired from travel, schlepping our luggage on foot, they informed us a tour group had extended their stay and there would be no rooms for my husband and me, nor for my elderly mother who was with us. I thought a reservation meant that they would hold the rooms, especially since we had paid in full in... More

You should know there's no air conditioning, so in summer rooms can get hot. But it's very convenient, the rooms are a good size and the service people try very hard. I'd stay there again.

It's a nice little place but you should know there's no air conditioning so in summer it can get quite hot. But it's very, very convenient and the rooms are a decent size. The service people try very hard (even though some didn't know the outlying area, they'd find out for you). I'd stay there again.

A friend recommended the Historic Anchorage hotel a few years ago - it is now my favorite place to stay there. This small hotel is very charming - a welcome change from the mega-hotels nearby. It is right next door to the Hilton - near all the downtown attractions. Staff is very friendly, the little fireplace in the lobby is... More

The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and sunny. My only complaint is that there were many drunkards on the street late at night and they were loud. I can't blame the hotel for that though.

A pleasant experience. Rooms were clean and spacious. The staff very helpful and Shuttle service to the Railroad and Airport was prompt. The breakfast buffet was a plus. Its a great place to make your home base when traveling to Alaska.

They definitely tried hard, but the stay just wasn't quite there...The place is not all that bad, but it could use a bit of an update, and a little better cleaning in the bathroom. Its a pretty old hotel, set up like hotels were configured during mining days, but its been renovated within the last decade or so. The rooms... More

My wife and I recently stayed at the Anchorage Hotel for our Honeymoon, and our stay was definately first rate. The location itself could sell the hotel, right in the middle of everything downtown. The attentive staff, beautifully furnished rooms, and free morning breakfast were all exceptional. Don't be fooled by this historic boutique hotel either, they offer state of... More

The Anchorage Hotel may be the city's oldest hotel, but with the upgrades, renovations, and services they now offer, they are truly the finest hotel in Anchorage. I travel all over the country on business, and the high speed wireless internet, video on demand television, and complimentary breakfast buffet with Belgian Waffles are excellent offerings that you will rarely find... I stayed at the Anchorage Hotel for 5 nights and I would not repeat the experience. First, the plus: it was in a very convenient location and I could easily walk to all the places I needed (and wanted) to go. Next, the negatives: The room was very tiny, it barely fit the bed and entertainment cabinet and there was... More
