Sitting the shadow of the multi storey Hilton hotel and its samey bland, corporate style hospitality the Historic Anchorage is the hotel of choice for the more diserning traveller. Only three storeys high it is living proof that good things can come in small doses. You get a nice feeling about the hotel when just walking into the hotel's pleasing... More

Service personnel was very goo. I was surprised to see pictures of Italy in the lobby and cheap paintings in the room. I thought it would have more of Anchorage pix and history. Room was OK but a bit tight. Continental breakfast was terrible and we ended up going out to eat.

We had a group with us staying at Historic Anchorage Hotel, so we experienced several types of rooms. Our Junior Suite was tastefully decorated with a couch and side chairs. The bed was extremely comfortable. Our suite looked out back over the rooftops of the next buildings but we did see mountains in the distance, so that was nice. Others... More

Recent trip to Alaska, we stayed here on multiple occasions in different rooms. It was like we stayed at different hotels. First, room 208. $192 + taxes. This was a pit. Tiny, claustrophobic. Tiny bathroom. I would have rated the hotel "poor". We unexpectedly returned to Anchorage and couldn't find a room at other hotels that were well rated by... More

We loved the combination of old and new. Historic but with modern amenities. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Nice selection of breakfast and GREAT COFFEE! The rooms have lots of space, too.

I would have given this hotel 5 stars if it had air conditioning, but that is the only reason I didn't. We were there June 1 and 2, and it was warm in the room (they have a fan in the room). If you're there in cool weather, then it's a 5-star hotel (: The hotel is an older building,... More

This is a smaller hotel in a good location to walk all around downtown Anchorage. It's older, not modern, but clean and comfortable. Staff was so friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations.

Great hotel in downtown Anchorage. Supposedly haunted but we had nothing out of the ordinary on our stay. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. There are plenty of things to do within walking distance and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the road was being torn up near the hotel and they worked on it... More

This hotel is charming with comfortable rooms. The staff are professional and provide not only great customer service but, also informed service. The hotel is located walking distance to shops, restaurants, and train station. We plan to return!

Booked the Historic Anchorage Hotel for a 2 night stay, wanted to be close to everything downtown but not just another chain hotel. This one has character, charm, and great service. We booked a junior suite, it was a large 2-room suite with city views. We slept good, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom spotless. After we checked in, I... More
