Located downtown, just a few minutes walking from the Train Station and Anchorage main streets, the hotel is located in an old building, rooms are clean but with no air conditioning system (it seems incredible, but Anchorage could be really hot!) and noisy (they are located on the street, with no isolation at all). Continental breakfast is really poor and... More

Nice to feel in a place with more character than a hin high rise. Room had photos of old anchorage....and we lucked out with a huge room and sitting room. Staff extremely nice. Breakfast included but could be improved. Make your own waffles tasted like cardboard. Bread was a disappointment...whole wheat wonderbread....but if they fixed that they'd get a 5... More

I recently stayed at the Historic Anchorage Hotel. Although we missed our first night of the reservation due to circumstances beyond my control (weather and mechanical issues with the flights), the hotel manager was unwilling to bend and refund any part of the $300+ nightly fee. I was hoping to make a switch to the next Thursday evening due to... More

We had two stays here, two nights before heading further into Alaska and a night before flying to Vancouver. The hotel had an excellent location. We wanted somewhere near the railroad depot. The hotel was a short walk from there, and near to downtown Anchorage. The room was spacious and despite being at the front of the hotel was quiet.... More

Sitting the shadow of the multi storey Hilton hotel and its samey bland, corporate style hospitality the Historic Anchorage is the hotel of choice for the more diserning traveller. Only three storeys high it is living proof that good things can come in small doses. You get a nice feeling about the hotel when just walking into the hotel's pleasing... More

Service personnel was very goo. I was surprised to see pictures of Italy in the lobby and cheap paintings in the room. I thought it would have more of Anchorage pix and history. Room was OK but a bit tight. Continental breakfast was terrible and we ended up going out to eat.

We had a group with us staying at Historic Anchorage Hotel, so we experienced several types of rooms. Our Junior Suite was tastefully decorated with a couch and side chairs. The bed was extremely comfortable. Our suite looked out back over the rooftops of the next buildings but we did see mountains in the distance, so that was nice. Others... More

Recent trip to Alaska, we stayed here on multiple occasions in different rooms. It was like we stayed at different hotels. First, room 208. $192 + taxes. This was a pit. Tiny, claustrophobic. Tiny bathroom. I would have rated the hotel "poor". We unexpectedly returned to Anchorage and couldn't find a room at other hotels that were well rated by... More

We loved the combination of old and new. Historic but with modern amenities. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Nice selection of breakfast and GREAT COFFEE! The rooms have lots of space, too.

I would have given this hotel 5 stars if it had air conditioning, but that is the only reason I didn't. We were there June 1 and 2, and it was warm in the room (they have a fan in the room). If you're there in cool weather, then it's a 5-star hotel (: The hotel is an older building,... More
