We stayed here for two nights after catching the bus from Talkeetna. The hotel is very convenient to the bus stop and the museum. From the good reviews on Tripadvisor and Booking.com, we chose here instead of one of the larger chain hotels. Also the transfer bus company to Whittier called here to collect us on departure. Reception was swift... More

Friendly and right in the middle of everything, this hotel is great. The staff is super nice and our room was functional. It's a neat old hotel and the location is great. They have a pretty good breakfast included as well. It's also only 2 blocks from the train station so we walked to our train.

Initially front desk staff was friendly and cordial, but the minute we had a problem with wifi, their attitude changed and they was quick to blame our equipment rather than theirs. Our equipment includes the latest MacBook Pro, two of the latest IPad mini's and one IPhone 5S Within an hour of checking in, I stressed the importance of having... More

This is a small hotel built in 1915 and on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the only hotel in Anchorage with anything approaching character. The decor is traditional and, though there is an attractive bar, it is used only as a breakfast room. Nevertheless, I recommend this hotel for the excellent personal service I received from three... This hotel is just around the corner from the Hilton...stay there instead. Might be a few dollars more but Historic Anchorage is ...historic. They play Elvis in the "bar" 12 hours a day on a continuous repeat. I did not see anyone in the "bar" during my stay. Breakfast is packet or canned food with serve yourself from cardboard plates,... After reading reviews we booked a 3 night stay plus 1 night following a train trip to Denali. The staff was very friendly and always ready to help. The hotel stored some of our bags so we did not have to take everything on the train. Location is perfect to walk around downtown. Only 1 block from the Trolley tour... More

After reading great reviews we booked this hotel for 3 nights. The rooms were very tidy and beds super comfy, especially for us coming from Australia and trying to adjust to the time zones. Breakfast is provided in the restaurant downstairs and has a great selection, including DIY waffles! We didn't have a car but the hotel is in a... More

My daughter and I stayed at this property for a few nights and then returned the evening before our departure. Our room was plenty large with two double beds and two luggage racks (yes, I found this very convenient). Property is historic and offers continental breakfast in the former bar area and hotel staff is friendly. While I admit I... More

There are many reviews of this hotel on this site and they are generally consistent. My perspective is that of a middle-aged business traveler, who, unfortunately, is less plucky than I was in my younger and thinner days--and definitely needs a good night's sleep. There are several positives about this hotel: 1. Location. Within walking distance of ocean, convention centers,... More
