Our first visit to Normandy in years and to stay at this B&B owned by Vivian and Rodolphe could not have made the visit more memorable. The rooms were quaint, cozy, very clean and chock full of historic information. The breakfasts were incredible and the building itself was simply amazing. Above all Vivian and Rodolphe were eager to explain and... More

On my first visit of Normandy I stayed in this B&B for 6 days and it was just fantastic. The B&B stands in an amazing countryside location which is so peacefull. The rooms are simply fantastic, the breakfast was wonderful. And there are of course the owners ot the B&B, Vivian and Rodolphe. They were fabulous hosts. I'm thankfull to... More

From the very moment that we met the hosts Vivian and Rodolphe we knew we were going to have a wonderful stay. We were warmly welcomed, shown around the property and Rodolphe even kindly insisted to carry our luggage up 2 flights of stairs to our room. Our room was the ‘82nd Airborne Attic Style Family Suite’ which had a... More

Our travel party started at six folks, went to 4 then had to be postponed due to some family health issues. These hosts - Vivien and Rodolph - could not have been more accommodating, personal and understanding about our individual needs. We give them top marks in every category.

When I discovered the B&B a la Bataille de La Fiere, their website led me to believe we were in for a remarkable experience. And so it was! My husband, 20 yr old daughter and I stayed with Viv and Rodolph for two nights so that I could realize my dream of seeing the D-Day Normandy battlegrounds. And La Fiere... More

We took our family of four, including a teenage son and daughter, to experience the history of Normandy. This beautiful and charming B&B is literally at La Fiere Bridge, site of one of the most heroic battles during the Normandy invasion. All four of us stayed in the 82d Airborne Suite, a huge suite perfectly suited for a family. Additionally,... More

My husband and son stayed here at the end of May, 2014. The room was clean and comfortable, the location was historical, and my son said his favorite thing about all of France was breakfast at La Fiere. Vivian was helpful getting the reservations made via email and when the guys were late showing up she called to be sure... More

Great location in Normandy, especially for folks interested in WW2 History. The B&B should be a Museum for WW2 not a B&B for folks to sleep and enjoy breakfast. The B&B owner is a little uptight and feels quite comfortable entering your room and leaving notes on your bed to share a concern and to chastise you for breaking one... More

Ref. 4 - 8 July 2014 Carr - Classens - Bohan Purple & Green rooms Yes, this is a great historic location. No, our place does not qualify as a WWII museum. However, we are a Bed & Breakfast in our private home (French requirement if registered as a B&B, 5 rooms/15 people maximum by law), and with a WWII... More

My husband and I stayed at La Fiere for 5 days during this first trip to Normandy for us. Vivian and Rodolphe were fabulous hosts and the B&B location was perfect. We were booked into the top floor, 82nd Airborne Family Suite, and were delighted with the views, the cleanliness and the privacy of the room. It allowed us to... More

We wish that all potential guests would read this review. It is a great example of what we try to do and fine people who understand and appreciate all. As a matter of fact, most of our guests are like these folks. I never understand why some people act and respond differently. However, we all know that is the nature... More

Questions & Answers

Here’s what questions travelers have asked, with answers from representatives of B&B a la Bataille de La Fiere and other travelers.

Trip Advisor : This review was submitted to you six days ago and is just now appearing on our page. Therefore, I assume that it was further reviewed for acceptability. However, this review is pure harassment. This person assumed that we operate like other French B&Bs. We do not take bookings at the door, nor by telephone. All of this is stated on our website and at our mailbox at the street. We do not welcome nor accept anyone on our property without prior authorization by phone or e-mail. No one at the door by foot or car. We do not invite strangers inside nor do we enter into conversations with them outside. This person had no authority to be here and was trespassing. So why would we be welcoming?

Our property is posted as “Private Property”. We only accept authorized guests. Due to our rising popularity and 70th Anniversary of D-Day, we have had many trespassing instances this summer. We are now in the process to have a private gate and fence installed at the entrance. The construction is pending approval of a permit as water and electric lines are buried in the passage. There are two postings indicating that this is private property, one at the passage and one on the house at the front door. All visible from the street. We have done all that our local authorities have suggested (Mayor and Gendarme). They are very familiar with our problems of trespassers as well as similar problems of others in our community. There have been instances of breaking and entering and destruction of property (day and night). So we are all vigilant. Strangers who ignore postings of “Private Property” are the violators, not us.

Yes, I can and will make a management response, if necessary. However, why should we suffer a bad review resulting in a diving rating affecting our good standing? Please do not let this happen. If you do let this review stand, you set a precedent for others to do the same. You already assisted us to take down a previous similar incident. We thank you for that. Now, we need your help again. This reviewer was breaking the law. This reviewer walked off and called my husband a Nazi.

Your loyal business clients, Rodolphe and Vivian ROGER
