ushering you into this dramatic, Pacific Northwest historic register property. The innkeepers (especially Brenda) were enthusiastic, kind, and helpful. This is a perfect location for exploring Volunteer park (a block away) and the dining scene, of which there are many walkable, delicious options. We stayed in the Central Ballroom on the 3rd floor. While the bedding (and pillows!) were luxuriously... More

We just spent 3 nights at the Shafer Baillie Mansion. It was three days of bliss. Brenda is one of the best innkeepers ever. The breakfasts were nicely displayed with little changes every morning, ie, egg casserole, hot fresh berry cobbler that was delish. The mansion is beautifully restored and so very comfortable. Bed and pillows - perfect. Close walking... More

We were met by the owner, a beautiful woman called Anna who was helpful and kind throughout our stay. She and her husband have transformed this mind boggling home back to it's grand state, spending nearly two years, lovingly waxing and oiling the wooden columns and panels, renewing ceilings and floors. The taste of furnishings in this huge house, is... More

We've been to the Shaffer Baille on numerous occasions over the years. Its always the same welcoming slice of turn of the last century charm. The woman who has run it forever - Brenda, is a delight! Always warm and full of good ideas of what to do, see and eat while in Seattle. It wouldn't be a trip to... More

What a gorgeous property. Our hosts were so friendly and made sure we knew how to get into the place since we were arriving quite late. I'm a sucker for restored historic mansions, and this B&B did not disappoint. I felt transported back in time. Every detail of this house was stunning. Our room left nothing to be desired (except... Our family's first visit to the Pacific Northwest began with a stay at the Schafer Baillie Mansion and there could not have been a better welcome to this part of the country. The mansion was exquisite, service impeccable and experience best described as Downton Abbey'esque. Brenda and Glen took care of us like Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Carson and we... More

This lovely and comfortable B&B is in a Tudor mansion, with beautiful rooms, lovingly restored to its original splendor. Lot's of public rooms to be comfortable in and the bedrooms are fantastic. The breakfast is excellent and the area super convenient to a lot of things. Have a great time and enjoy your stay. It's quiet, and probably best for... More

Our family of 4 have just had a 4 night stay at Shafer Baillie and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Beautiful, historic and spacious rooms. Great location on Capitol Hill. I stayed at the Shafer-Baillie mansion for four wonderful weeks from Monday through Friday in January and February. It was so great to come back to a beautiful mansion at the end of a hard day.
