Used to live here in 2002-2003 before the owner sold it. Love the secret push style shelves in the dinning room and roof top deck off the third floor room. The dumb waiter always saved time and energy. This place holds lots of secrets and has housed an eclectic group of people throughout its years...good memories for sure.

Bed and Breakfast places rarely get it right... They tend to place too much importance on the forced, communal breakfast, and not enough on the bed. Shafer Baillie is one B&B that gets it SO right, they are in their own category. It's an unusually well-done and sensitive restoration of a handsome turn-of-the-century mansion that's not fussy or overdone. It... More

We visited Seattle as the last stop on a cross country train trip to complete visiting all 50 states. The three nights we spent at the Shafer Baillie Mansion made our normal sightseeing something very special. The staff was so helpful in giving us guidance on what to see, the food was wonderful, and WOW to the mansion itself. We... More

This stately old mansion has been kept in pristine condition. We stayed for three nights at the beginning of a three week car trip from Seattle to San Diego with friends. We were so happy with this find that we wished we could have stayed longer. One of the Mansion's best features is Brenda, who warmly greets guests for a... More

It's a forbidding, but interesting, stone mansion on the outside and a delightful collection of old world furnishings on the inside. Friendliness and kindness abound once you step through the door. We stayed in two rooms because of availabilty. First night the Center Ballroom on the third floor which was very nice with two double beds, a view of the... More

Most people visiting in Seattle look for hotels downtown not realizing that all the life in Seattle is actually on Capitol Hill. You really can not get a better location than here and you are doing yourself a disservice booking in at one of the big brand hotels downtown. The Mansion is fabulous as are the owners, the staff are... More

Where do I start with this review? Would it be the grand proportions of the panelled dining room where breakfast is served? Would it be the beautifully appointed sitting rooms, which take you back to days gone by? The bright and airy sun room? The speakeasy downstairs, or the library room? Maybe the bedrooms? Well the jaw dropping continues in... More

Tired of staying in noisy hotels where you seem to roll the dice to get a nice room I decided to try B&Bs on our trip to Seattle. The Shafer Baille Mansion did not disappoint.
