What can I say...I never want to stay in a hotel again. This was so lovely and welcoming, and just like home (if you live in a historical mansion!). So many great places to walk to and a short drive to downtown. Location is amazing.

This is a beautiful building in a lovely historic neighborhood right by one of the city's most wonderful parks. Our room was charming and clean, with a historic feel and real character. The place was very quiet and relaxing. We were very well taken care of by Brenda, who made sure we were always comfortable and well fed. The breakfast... More

My husband and I stayed here for a few nights in July 2014. The rooms are very large and quite comfortable. Breakfast is served every morning and they do provide drinks during the day, but you have to ask. The mansion is about a thirty minute walk from downtown Seattle, but there is also public transportation available. We arrived at... More

We arrived on a rainy afternoon and were warmly greeted at this amazing building. Our room was very nice. Ample amenities and many little places on the main floor to sit and enjoy a book or your iPad. The interior woodwork is stunning. The grounds were beautiful. The innkeepers were very solicitous and prepared a great breakfast. We walked a... More

This was our fourth trip to Shafer-Baillie Mansion so it's fair to say that we have solidified our appreciation of this beautiful and historical bed and breakfast in a quiet part of Capitol Hill. The public areas are quiet and comfortable without feeling like a museum, so you can relax wherever you choose. The bedrooms are spacious and as comfortable... More

Want a location close to downtown and the B&B experience - this is it! From Glenn's warm welcome late in the evening (late plane), assistance with our bags up to the third floor (no elevator), to the comfort in the room, the wonderful breakfasts, and proximity to dining establishments and bus stops, we couldn't have asked for more. We were... More

This wonderfully appointed Victorian mansion was an oasis. Located in capital hill it was only 2 blocks walk to the downtown bus easy and convenient. Our room was tastefully furnished the sheets were so soft I ordered some. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and had lots of tourist info. The breakfasts were outstanding and a lovely array of many different... More

The hosts were very nice. The establishment is beautiful and well-maintained. The common rooms are very nice. The library is fun to settle into, as there are materials about the home and Seattle history. The sunroom is very nice as well. The rooms are very pleasant. I was placed in a small room over-looking a church parking lot (not so... More

Thank you very much to Glenn, Ana and Brenda for being such welcoming hosts. We really enjoyed the brief stay we had at the Shafer. The mansion itself is gorgeous and beautifully furnished. There are several rooms downstairs that are for guest use during there stay, including a sun room that was devine. We stayed in the central ballroom on... More

My son & I had business in downtown Seattle, and we arrived by train. This was my first trip to Seattle carless, but transportation did not prove to be an issue. The B&B is within close walking distance to neighborhood restaurants, and we used a taxi for the downtown appt.,etc. There are several options. The home is beautifully loved and... More
