Me and my 3 girlfriends stayed at this Hostel for a week. Frank the owner was very nice, friendly, and helpful. He went out of his way to show us around the local town and outside of the town. He took us out to an iris field and we took some amazing pictures. The place was clean, warm, and cozy.... More

Yes, I am late to write a review, but when I saw the bad review below, I felt the urgency to tell everybody that this comment is really really exaggerated. I stayed there a couple of days with my mom in the summer 2010 (so just before the family with the bad comment went) and it was lovely. Rooms were... More

Frank decided not to open the hostel this summer. He said he will consider whether to reopen in 2013.

This is a real nice welcoming place. Frank was very friendly and we appreciate the things he has done for us because he actually took out out into the alaskan wilderness area and helped us around. The bad review he got i think is unfair because seeing he is doing this on his own and still manages to care is... More

I don't know why this place is #2. My husband and I booked in at a local B&B and my brother had made a reservation here. I went in with my brother to check it out, and he decided to forgo the money he paid and bunked with my husband and I instead. Here's what I noticed: 1. Hoarder. Have... More

The owner's wife passed away in 2010 and he is having problems managing the hostel on his own since he has a job as well. It is truly a home hostel and we were pleased that we were trusted to stay in it and tried to help by tidying up. The hostel is centrally located. We were pleased that there... More

I have now visited ALL 50 US States. ALASKA ROCKS! When I travel I seek out Hostels and unfortunately a lot of them have a bunch of rowdy college kids that drink. Not so here, Nancy & Frank (No relation to the Sinatra's, hehehe!) run a beautiful house hostel. I met people from Australia, Israel, UK and of course the... More

In my opinion, travelers are VERY lucky to have this accommodation option in the breathtaking town of Skagway (the only other budget option right in town, is camping in the RV parks). I chanced upon the Skagway Home Hostel years ago as a solo traveler exploring the Inside Passage and have stayed there repeatedly over the years. I would recommend... More

Could not have felt more comfortable unless I was home. The owners, Nancy and Frank, were very helpful in pointing out things to do around Skagway. And the use of all the facilities(frig, laundry room, etc.) was sweet. They even helped me find a place in Juneau when I left. Also felt very safe here. I am actually looking forward... More

I've been to the Skagway Home Hostel twice, once with my son before and after our hike on The Trail in 2003 and last year as a solo traveler. It's a home away from home with all the amenities plus an open kitchen where I could store food and help myself to anything else I needed. Frank and Nancy were... More
