A charming boutique hotel. The owner Mrs Armelle Raillard is most welcoming; she has a natural sense of decoration and design; the place is done with a lot of taste. You feel like you are invited to a friend's house. Room is acceptable (I was solo), bathroom as well. Very clean. Very comfortable bed. A quiet area. Breakfast was good... More

This belongs under restaurants -- the food was so good; artfully presented, served with distinction and friendliness, and absolutely delicious. But TA and Yelp seem to have decided that Ty Mad is only a hotel. We weren't even staying at Ty Mad even though some of our friends were both staying there and eating at the same time as us.... Ty Mad is a beautiful house, once the preserve of visiting artists. There are stunning views across the bay to the Crozon peninsula. The harbour at Douarnanez is an easy stroll 10 minutes away along the coast path. Rooms are immaculate and skilfully decorated by the talented owners. The dining room offers beautiful examples of French regional cuisine. An exquisite... More

My wife and I found this wonderful hotel by chance after our GPS gave us the coordinates while we aimlessly drove around without our guidebook (it was in our "lost' luggage). It was the best tip our little navigator gave during the entire vacation. We had a beautiful, peaceful, good sized room and enjoyed a delicious dinner at the hotel's... More

We spent 3 nights at Ty Mad. It's a lovely small hotel, with a fun modern decor. Our room was not huge but very pleasant and with a nice view over the water. The tiny Plage St Jean is a wonderful place for a swim - seems like your own private beach. We ate two dinners in the restaurant and... More

We stayed for 4 nights in Ty Mad and found it overall disappointing. Whilst the location is wonderful and the views over the bay quite lovely our room was tiny and our shower room so small it was just the floor space of the toilet and a very small shower. Whilst the room is full descriptions of their ecological philosophy... More

Ty Mad is a beautiful, peaceful and happy small hotel within steps of the sea and ten minutes from the harbour and cafes of Treboul. Its owners have lavished care and attention on the decor, and devote the same attention to the guests, who are very much made to feel like guests rather than clients. The breakfasts are lavish, and... More

The first visit gave a good impression, causing that we wanted to spend our last evening in Douarnenez in the restaurant, taking their high recommended "cote de boeuf" as our main course. We were for several days looking forward to this outstanding dinner. The beef was servered, whithout asking us how it should be cooked, causing it was servered very... More

Dear Sir, We decided to keep the restaurant open that night because you had a booking. The chef lost his father in the afternoon and therefore we probably failed that day. Your account has been credited today. With all our appologies and best regards. A Raillard More

The current owners have transformed an old stately house (used to be a presbytery) into a wonderful contemporary and exceptionally tasteful design hotel. The location is also very special in front of an old chapel with a splendid sea view. The view from our room (11) was simply magical. The only drawbacks are related to the fact that this hotel...
