We loved our stay here. The hotel is bright, clean, comfortable and well run. The breakfast was excellent and the view over the bay of St Jean de Luz from our balcony was stunning. It takes 15 minutes to walk into SJdeL but it's a pleasant walk and there are numerous bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from.

A pretty good home base for the Basque country if you prefer a French town. Pretty hard to find without GPS. Cheaper than St Jean de Luz, but that's only a pleasant 20-minute walk away. The parking was usually available, but it was a huge challenge to navigate the extremely small lot! We ended up staying in 2 different rooms... More

This isn't 5 star or trying to be but is good value for this area. We were pleased that we chose to stay in St Jean Luz/ Ciiborne rather than than Biaritz where we had earlier thought of staying. St Jean is a bustling but charming seaside town/ port that has far more character for my money than the much... More

To reach this hotel required ude of 1st gear - the gradient was so steep. Once there, it required a 5 point turn to ensure we could leave the car park once other cars were alongside us. The owners had tried hard to provide good quality bathroom fittings and succeeded, but the bedroom, though very clean and comfortable was small... More

Stayed here for 3 nights on our road trip through France! The view from our room was amazing, overlooking the beach and the harbour, with the Pyrinees on the horizon. From here we explored San Sebastian, Hendaye, Pyrinees, Biarritz and more! The breakfast terrace offers the best views of the harbour and beach. The rooms are beautifully decorated. Ours had... More

We arrived at the hotel at about 2pm. We pulled up in the car and almost immediately a lady came out and started shouting at us in french, which neither me nor my fiance understood. We managed to work out that she wanted us to move our car from the pretty convenient spot that we had parked in (convenient for... More

Stayed here twice now,the last time on my wayback to Portugal after visiting relatives in France. If you want a quiet spot away from what can be the madness of SJ then this is for you.The rooms are comfortable and quiet, the owners and staff really pleasant and the breakfast more than adequate.Have a good dinner in SJ and then a amble... Parking problematic, unless you're the first to arrive and don't need to use it during your stay. Unfamiliar hi-tech tap doesn't yield hot water without instruction. (Owner said "All the people around here know how to use it", but do all the locals stay in the hotel? She had deliberately not left instructions for use in the bath room). Reception... More

I booked this hotel based on previous Tripadviser reviews and was not disappointed. We stayed in room 26 on the 2nd floor overlooking the bay. We went to sleep at night with the doors open to the sound of the waves and ate breakfast on the patio, again with the fantastic view. On the downside it is a long walk... More

We enjoyed wonderful views over Saint-Jean-de-Luz from our first floor room with balcony. Superb breakfasts and friendly service allow the hosts to make the most of this 2* hotel. The room was clean, but dated. The double bed was comfortable, but was the smallest of our stay in France. A GPS is a definite plus, but tight parking can be... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On the Basque coast, bathed in the Atlantic ocean and nested on the side of "la colline de Bordagain" (Bordagain hill), l'hotel Agur Deneri offers an unrivaled view over Saint Jean de Luz bay and the fishing ports. From the high terraces or balconies, you can watch the sea rolling in and out with the tides. The area's charm and serenity compliment each other fantastically. Inspired by their Basque origins, and by the peaceful atmosphere of the surroundings, Veronique and Xalbat have created an atmosphere which positively breathes relaxation, to receive their guests. Since the beginning of this adventure, in 2000, they've put their all into creating this "etxe" just as they wanted it and transforming it into an "etxetoa" Comfortable : Calm and quiet, the sea view, the terraces and the gardens to the south. Convenient : Private parking, close proximity to the beaches, to the nautical centre in Socoa and both Ciboure and Saint Jean de Luz city centres ... more   less
