This hotel was truly amazing! The grounds were beautiful, the individual bungalows were so charming and elegantly decorated. Everything was clean and I especially loved the big jacuzzi bathtub! The bed was very comfortable and there is a tv in the room, as well. There are terrace areas outside the room with a table and chairs, which provide a very... More

Getting there is not for the faint of heart-make sure you have an SUV- but it's totally worth it when you get there. Look out for the cows in the road! Staff are very accommodating, they made up take away breakfast for us on the morning that we left because we had to go very early. It's really peaceful and... More

Villa Blanca is a haven of peace, quiet, and humanity. The staff are, without exception, expert, friendly, and very welcoming. From the concierge and the front desk to the restaurant, cuisine, and serving staff, everyone contributed to our enjoyment of this hideaway in the clouds. The extra services like the yoga class by Raymond and the massages made this the... More

From the moment we arrived at Villa Blanca, we were enchanted with the scenery, the wonderful staff, and just the overall appeal of this amazing place. We had our own cabana, complete with a fireplace, enjoyed a delicious restaurant-style breakfast (included!) each morning, hiked, had the opportunity to milk cows (try it!) and just were so content during our stay... This was an awesome place to stay for our first night in Costa Rica. We enjoyed the hummingbirds most of all. But the trails were fun too. The food was great and Incredible view. The villas were very nice roomy for family of 5.

We spent our first three nights of a family package trip (combined with sister hotel Si Como No) at Villa Blanca. It rained and we never saw the sun, but it did not matter! We took a day trip/hike/hot springs/Arenal volcano trip, and it rained and we never saw a volcano, but Roy, our naturalist guide extraordinaire, made the trip... More

We (family of 4) recently stayed at the beautiful Villa Blanca in the Cloud Forest area of San Ramon, Costa Rica. Excellent service, food, room. Roberto, Ingrid, and others all were terrific. Staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The dining experience alone was worth the visit, and the surrounding forest and nature trails made the visit memorable for... More

We recently returned from our first trip to Costa Rica. We split our time between a hotel in the Arenal area and a 4 nite stay at Villa Blanca. It is a beautiful, private, nature paradise! The staff are very eager to make your stay a wonderful experience. During the middle of our check in the staff took us out... More

We had a fantastic time at Villa Blanca in June 2014 celebrating our parent's 50th wedding anniversary. Although the property is quite a drive, it was worth it! The rooms were spacious, very clean and we especially utilized the de-humidifiers to dry our damp clothing. We lit a fire both nights and enjoyed the ambience. The website is a little... More

Dear LaraAustin TX, It seems you share what so many generous TA Reviews and Guest Comment Surveys have in common. Although the last 9 KM of country road, through the dairy pastures of Los Angeles Norte de San Ramon, are a bit bumpy, it’s definitely worth it! We are sorry if you understood that our mini bar was complementary. We... More

Villa Blanca was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Its a bit out of the way but worth the trip. Great hotel, great staff, great food. Perfect place to get away from it all. We had a night tour of the forest with a guide who explained to us the forest and the wildlife

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Just over an hour's drive from San Jose International Costa Rica airport (SJO), eco-minded travelers from all over the world have reveled in the beauty of Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Hotel, located within the Los Angeles Private Biological Nature Reserve & Research Station in the Canton of San Ramon. The hotel is ideally situated as a gateway to Arenal Volcano and the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Here, you're immersed in one of the world's most precious and complex jungle ecosystems - the cloud forest. This boutique mountain hotel is nestled on 75-acres of gentle rolling hills, with well-appointed "casitas" and Honeymoon Suites, each with their own fireplace, and surrounded by acres of lush botanical gardens. Originally owned by former president Rodrigo Carazo Odio and First Lady, Estrella Zeledon de Carazo, Villa Blanca has become a renown and cherished Costa Rica destination. The architecture reflects the original farm village concept, with a welcoming Hacienda, offering guests exceptional Costa Rican hospitality, premier dining, a private theater, conference facilities, and pampering spa menu. Also quite unique is a replica of a 14th century Roman wedding chapel, La Mariana, with its hand painted ceramic ceiling. Choose from a variety of nature-based activities, including horseback, zip-lines, and user-friendly guided trials, plus excursions to Arenal and Poas volcanoes, hot springs, and rural-cultural tours. This is the Costa Rica where those who "travel well and travel right" want to go. Please feel free to visit our sister-site, one of the most prestigious Manuel Antonio hotels, Si Como No. ... more   less
