Loved the place. My wife and I were able to ck in early upon our arrival and were greeted by the owner. The woodworking in the whole building is fantastic, which Richard Schmidt had done himself, truly a master woodworker. Our room was large and comfortable with two beds and a small couch, There's a small public area upstairs with... more

I don't know what else to say but...UNBELIEVABLE!!! The attention to detail in this beautiful B&B is absolutely amazing. I had a couple of stressful months leading up to my stay and the sleep that I got was the best I had in years. The bed was so very comfortable and the room was quiet, warm and just perfect for... more

We had a fantastic start to our Alaskan vacation at Sourdough Sunrise, staying 3 wonderful days beginning June 7th. First the accommodations, the B&B was built by our hosts, Richard and Sue. The home is a beautiful mixture of art and craftsmanship. Richard’s love for woodworking shines through in every extraordinary detail. Everything is brand new, and the rooms are... more

Our hosts were a retired carpenter and his wife. Sue still works outside of the home, so Richard was our primary breakfast cook and host. Everything you may have heard about the woodwork in this house is true. Richard said that, after 40 years as a professional carpenter, he finally built a house that no one could afford to hire... more

Wow! What a beautiful house! Just what we imagined a log retreat to be. The wood work is amazing. The house is set back in the trees. You feel light years away from town, but in reality it is only a few minute drive. The B&B is conviently located a couple of minutes from Seward and right off Exit Glacier... more

Don't be fooled by the one lukewarm review of this B n B. The owners of this house were nothing but accomodating and friendly to us, and they left us alone when we didn't want to be bothered. Being limited to certain parts of the house was not really a problem for us because we spent most of our stay... more

Seward hotels were sold out for the night, and I heard about Sourdough Sunrise B&B. It was a short drive, maybe three minutes, from Seward on the road to Exit Glacier, Kenai Fjords NP. Situated in a isolated grove of huge trees, the B&B had some really nice artistic woodworking touches put in by the owner Richard. His front door... more

Sourdough Sunrise B&B does indeed have beautiful woodwork. And some very nice quilt work as well. But we were disappointed in the hospitality of our hosts. It's the only B&B that I've ever stayed in where we were locked out of the kitchen/den except at breakfast! (When asked, they did unlock it for us - but the host specifically said... more
