Great cute hotel with clean rooms! Enjoyed Seward in this little historic hotel situated in a great place in town. Near the bars and marine life center. Parents loved it. Will definitely take people there again.

we had one of those Alaskan saver coupon books that offered buy one night, get one night free. That was totally worth it. If we had paid the full price for both nights, I would have been a bit disappointed as I don't think it would have been worth it. The location is amazing, I loved parking our car and... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our pre-cruise night at the Van Gilder which was built in 1916 and, we'd guess, remodeled about 80 years ago. Since then it has been well maintained. To be sure, there are some more recent changes such as modern interior doors, newish plumbing fixtures, and TVs. The hotel is perfectly comfortable. No breakfast is provided here but... More

We had to stay overnight in Seward, AK for the boat tour the next day, so we booked this hotel online. The hotel was expensive, and did not have the amenities one expects at this price point. The rooms were small, with thin walls and outdated décor. The mattresses and bedding were terrible. There was no free breakfast. We didn't... More

We stayed for one night since my husband was fishing for a day in Seward. We arrived very late, around 1:00 am, since our flight was delayed and we had to drive from Anchorage. We had called ahead to let them know and they were waiting for us. There is no elevator, so if you are on an upper level... More

We stayed Memorial Weekend and could'nt have been happier. The staff was very friendly and helpful, our room was quaint and cozy, sort of old fashioned but I like that. It was as clean as most other hotels I've been in and the location was great too, we walked everywhere! I plan to stay there every time we go to... More

This is an historic hotel so don't expect a modern room. We have stayed here in the past but found the rooms have gotten a bit shabby and are in need of some TLC. That said, the staff is so friendly and accommodating. The fresh cookies in the evening are a real plus.

This is good hotel. I called ahead and had my luggage stored there until we could check in later that day. When we got back from sightseeing the room was ready to be checked in...room was clean and in good repair. As far as I know there is no elevator and you have to carry up your luggage. Thankfully only... More

Very over priced. Felt very unwelcomed. For what you pay it's not worth it. I should have stayed in my car. The only good thing about our stay was how close it was to everything else. When I asked a question to the person working in the office, she wouldn't respond. I was asking how old the building was..

We spent two nights at the Van Gilder and were disappointed. The room was adequate and seemed clean. The bathroom was the same. HOWEVER, there was no breakfast, the halls were partially painted and partially wall papered (I think they were taking down the wall paper). The lobby was locked when we arrived in the late afternoon with jail-type bars... More
