We enjoyed our stay here! Room is very small and simple but clean and cozy. Free Wifi and coffee in the morning. Bed was very comfortable. Our desk clerk (Chris?) was awesome! He works at a couple of other places, so leaves a sign with his phone number when not immediately there - but very easy to get a hold... More

First time I stayed at a B&B type hotel. Didn't know what to expect. But pleasantly surprised. Hesitated since I read that it has ghosts. But the stay was fine. We were in the suite that can sleep 5 people. Hotel was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Our toilet didn't work but the staff tend to it... More

We were lucky to find this place. We had our booking at a different hotel in Seward, something went wrong with the booking, and we had no place to stay. Danny had two rooms which had a shared bathroom, which is not usually open for reservation. Rooms were good, he went above and beyond to help us feel comfortable at... More

Although a historic building, it is terrible. Very uncomfortable, housekeeping missed us, no hair dryer, lights burned out, disabled fire alarm, front desk available by phone, voucher for breakfast at a dive. The only decent thing was the bed.

To the end of a wonderful trip me and my friends spent two nights here. We had a suite room with the excellent view. Room was clean and comfortable. And the staff was all nice and friendly, especially a beautiful Asian girl who was covering front desk.

There was no place else to stay one night of our Alaskan visit to Seward. We paid $200.00 for a $75.00 (max) room. It is a historical hotel in a tourist town. Very old, very eclectic, and very expensive . BTW, the bathroom lights did not work and were filled with thousands of ladybugs. Will we stay again? I think... More

Clean, the bathroom was almost as large as our bedrm. The bed was very comfy, everything was very clean. Walk-up to 2nd floor. Convenient location near museum. During the day a municipal shuttle bus runs from this museum neighborhood over to the wharf. I'm always amazed at how costly Seward is (for what you get) but it caters to recreational... More

The Van Gilder shows its age, but provided for a comfortable nights lodging in Seward. I'd call this a "quirky" place, not a chain-type hotel and not a hostel either. Manager does not stay on site, so you need to phone him/her if you have any questions or issues. There's a TINY breakfast/sitting are (that's dominated by a HUGE stuffed... More

We loved this quaint historic Inn. It was one of two buildings that survived a tsunami years ago, and we are so glad it did. It is filled with antiques and old time charm. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It is clean and comfortable. We would stay there again with pleasure.

Our room was on the 2nd floor. No elevator. On the 3rd floor you get a view, but it was still nice & clean. It is an old lodge of some sort that was converted to a hotel many years ago. Not much in the way of seats or a lobby. But it is right across the street from a... More
