We had reservations somewhere else in Seward for 5 people but then were told that the rooms only accommodate 4. Fortunately, the manager found us rooms at La Barn Appetit. We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment in the barn. It was very comfortable and roomy. Janet and Yvon were very friendly and welcoming. And the breakfast crepes were delicious!!

When we arrived in Seward, we were told that our hotel reservation through Booking.com was not valid. (Long story and won't go into here). Lucky for us the management was able to get us two nights in the Tree House room at Le Barn Appetit. This place is an adventure. The Tree House is built around a tree so the... More

While the crepes were quite good, it was the visit with Janet and Yvon that made this simply the most memorable Alaskan experience. Loved the stories and hanging out with them both. Don't expect anything fast. This is eating and visiting as it is meant to be.

We stayed at the Jack London cabin. It was a true alaskan experience. The decor was very very interesting. The dead animals on the walls really freaked my kids out but there are dead things on walls at every alaskan store, restaurant, hotel. I am glad we stayed. So much more character then staying at the holiday inn. This place... More

We stayed at the Le Barn Appetit on July 30th and 31st. A gorgeous B&B with a huge room that accommodated 4 people. It was a joy to see all the farm animals. The views were beautiful and they also had a neat sun room. This was my first stay at a B&B and I enjoyed the experience. The crepes... More

Meeting Janet and Yvon was one of the highlights of our vacation. We went there for breakfast. As soon as you enter, you know you are somewhere special. There are three large tables with Yvon's crepe stand on the side. Just pick a seat and you are in for the experience of a lifetime! There are so many artifacts on... More

I would like to echo those who also enjoyed their food and stay at Le Barn Appetit. We spent three nights in July at Yvon and Janet's property and can truly say we will have long-lasting memories of our great time there. The property is located just outside town and it is very quiet. The breakfast crepes are just great.... More

We were looking for a quick breakfast while in Seward and picked LeBarn Appetit thinking we would eat and run. Not so. The crepes were amazing but the conversation with the owners was really the cherry on top. The dining room is an intimate surprise as is all the stories behind the memorabilia that adorns the walls and tables. Everything... More

Yvon and Janet are the warmest people...you walk in strangers and leave friends. They have amazing stories of their adventures in AK and beyond, and the restaurant area is like an archeological museum use to annotate those tales. This isn't a meal, it's an experience...and one you would be hard-pressed to find elsewhere in AK. The food is also delicious...super-yummy... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Le Barn Appétit, the first creperie in all of Alaska, was created in 1987 by Yvon and Janet van Driessche, your hosts, and their children. We built the original four-story barn (Belgian-style) which is the tallest building in Seward. Besides the main barn building, there is the “Tree House” and the newest “Jack London’s Cabin”. We are a B&B/Inn and our hosted guests can be small or large groups. We have cable and free Wi-Fi available to our guests in many of our rooms. With spacious clean rooms, each chamber has a theme with genuine objects to match their stories. Our guests sleep comfortably and breakfasts are a gift to our B&B/Inn guests at no charge. Come witness the creation of our gourmet Belgian crepes prepared before your eyes to your liking on our custom Creperie created in the summer of 2004. Try Janet's rich Belgian waffles made from scratch with fresh fruit in season, topped with all the other fixings.Breakfast and lunch are available to the public.
