The Taroka Inn is hard to evaluate - which is why we stayed there. We arrived to overgrown grass and a very messy reception. Our host had no front teeth, but was so friendly and helpful, full of smiles and welcome. Our room consisted of a bedroom, kitchen, lounge room - that had another queen size bed in it. It... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I researched about every lodging option in Seward as I was trying to find something family friendly so the two kids could stay with us as well, and this was the only reasonable option. As the rooms also come with a kitchen, you can save significant money by grocery shopping. I really enjoyed interacting... More

I recently stayed at the Taroka Inn with a couple of friends for a night when we were passing through Seward. I've definitely stayed in nicer places, but the Taroka Inn met all of our needs just fine. It is a little bit older and definitely has some noticeable wear and tear throughout, but the rooms themselves were fine. Don’t... More

OK ... how do you rate a hotel that is old old old and worn out? The buildings are sinking into the ground; some doors close, many do not. A few things are fixed and somewhat modern (e.g, some of the sinks), but much is not. There are some nice kitchens and rooms, some not. But it was a good... More

The owner of the hotel is very friendly, the location is one block from Seward Sea Life Center, rooms a very clean, very large, with nice kitchen. The hotel is old from outside, but it is a good value and easy to book and nice to stay there.

The host was an extremely hospitable and friendly person. For our first night in Alaska, it was good to start here. The best part for us we discovered was that this was walking distance from the Sealife Center. Half the family was able to walk there while the other half went/drove off for Kayaking. The place is older wooden buildings... More

This is a single story wood building that was apparently used as officer housing during WWII. It fits right in with the rest of the immediate area. This part of town is old and it looks it. That's not a bad thing. It has character. The room we were in had a small kitchen and living room area. There was... More

A 1970s style apartment with dark paneling and harvest gold appliances. If you are looking for a clean bed without concern of appearances, this is your place. Very friendly people who are accommodating. The rooms are more like little apartments off the main house. Just like home linens. If you want all the amenities, probably not the place for you.

Sometime in the past this building was owned by the military and used as Officer’s Quarters, though I’m not sure what period that was. Whenever it was, I don’t think it has changed a whole lot since then. We were i unit #2. Very dark and gloomy but fairly roomy with two queen beds, a small kitchen area, and bath... More
