It is true that not many activities are available in wintertime at Seward; however, we do enjoy our stay at Bear Lake Lodging, it is joyful and peaceful. Pat is very welcoming, considerate and with great humor. She always explains to us in great detail: what to do and what to eat. And even has a booklet that contains almost... More

Okay, I'm blushing - thank you for the wonderful comments. I so very much enjoyed our times talking and learning about each other. Winter stays give us more time to spend and get to know our guests. Very happy to hear that Fairbanks came through with Northern Lights for your visit, as Seward did surprisingly have a light display the... More

My grandson, age 10, and I spent three nights here in June 2013. Beautiful property with great hosts. We canoed on the lake and checked out the salmon run at the weir on Bear Creek! Breakfast were unique and hearty with enough choices to satisfy a 10-year-old! The ice cream bars each evening were divine! Hope to visit again! Tom... More

Bear Lake Lodgings was simply the best of all our accommodation in Alaska, and it is not hard to see why these folk get such consistently high ratings. Rather than repeat all the rave reviews about the standard of the rooms (outstanding!), food (Ginny’s breakfasts were scrumptious!), and the perfect setting just the right distance out of town, I’ll add... Thank you for the very kind comments about us and our B&B, but also for your remarks about Alaskan's and their hospitality in general. Alaskan's are proud of our state and love sharing it with our visitors. It's good to hear that you found our citizen's welcoming and compassionate - Alaska's are truly a little different breed. Not many "outsiders"... More

A very comfortable and appealing way to sample Alaska - right by a lake, the float-plane and boats docked nearby. Delightful hosts, that special ice cream treat, very comfortable room, and its own little world down the road from town. The hosts provide great suggestions for your day with discounts on the boat tours. A hard place to leave!

We are thrilled with nice comments like these. We find many guests are sad they have only booked one night with us, not giving themselves enough time to visit the many great activities and sights in Seward. Plus, time to enjoy the lake with our complimentary canoe and kayaks ready for a paddle! Fun you noticed that we are in... More

The only bad thing that we have to say about the Bear Lake Lodgings B&B is that our stay wasn't long enough. We only booked one night as we had to catch a flight out of Anchorage the next evening, but it was the most relaxing part of our vacation. The lodge location on Bear Lake is so picturesque and... We often think of our hand dipped ice cream bars as a "little bite of heaven" - so we loved your description of us and our property. Happy to hear you are planning your return trip to explore more of what Seward has to offer. Say you mentioned, a stay of two of more days is a better choice to... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in Sept 2013 and could not have been happier. From the friendly welcome from owners Dennis and Pat to beautiful accommodation (we had the bear lake suite on 2nd floor with great views to lake, large bathroom, direct access to deck and separate but adjoined space with another bed for accompanied child/friend) we were made... Our lake views from many of the windows in the B&B are a welcoming sight to our guests. We love the reaction that guests give when entering our common area living room for the first time to view the lake. It truly is a beautiful view with the mountains and the evergreen trees - where its easy to spot resting... More

I stayed here with several friends for 3 nights in August. The lake and kayaks were great to see the salmon spawning. We made several great hikes in the Seward area and it was always nice to come back to the ice cream in the evening. I suspect it would be even better with just the wife for a laid... More

Trey, I'm so glad you and your friends found Bearlake Lodgings to be the perfect accommodations for your yearly getaway. Sorry your room, Mt. Tiehacker was the only one without a lake view, but a view of the mountain for which the room was named has to run a close second. It was so much fun catching up with the... More

Jen is a gracious, informative hostess- breakfast was delicious and attractive; she shared photos of seals on their dock; canoe and kayaks were available if we wanted to experience the salmon run on the lake- beautiful setting! When we return we will definitely take the canoe for an adventure. Located close to Glacier Exit, an amazing trek near evening's sunset... More

Thank you for your kind review of your stay at our B&B. I well remember you and your husband's combined quest to follow the path of the travels of your husband's late father. We spent 4 nights in the lodge and it was beyond expectations. The lodge is located right on the lake and the surrounding is really beautiful. There are kayaks you can take any time and with a distance of about 15 minutes padling there is a creek with salmon fish trying to swim upstrem, which is really awesome to see. The... More
