Not purpose built but works well. Private. V relaxing. Staff want to help. Good breakfasts. Re the free snorkelling gear - you get what you pay for. So BYO. Good washing machine. My son left his jumper. Ken took care to get it to Sydney ASAP. (Thanks mate.)

My boyfriend and I just recently stayed in the Japanese Tea House and we absolutely loved it. It is a beautiful, clean, very unique environment. It is a place to go if you want to relax and enjoy nature. We enjoyed listening and watching the birds while enjoying a beautiful breakfast that was included and watching the chicken with her... We loved the house, due to the friendly staff, the delicious breakfast and the location in the hills of Kona. The room was very clean as well as the rest of the house. We loved the breakfast, especially the waffels and the fresh fruit. There are a lot of birds and chickens around, so you have 'noise' during the night,... More

This was just what we needed because we had just landed, tired, and it is only 20 minutes from the Kona airport. Not what I would call posh but the beds were lean and comfy, and the location and grounds were interesting. Breakfast was fresh fruit (papaya with lime often) and make your own omelette bar every day. A little... More

This is a rustic little place hidden in the hills south of Kona. We stayed in the Jasmine Room. The place is nicely nestled in the lush surroundings. Frogs sang at night, roosters marked the dawn, and chickens from somewhere wandered about. The grounds are picturesque. The library is fabulous. Very inviting, open and restful. Breakfast was wonderful with a... More

On arrival Ken welcomed us very friendly and showed us our "room". We stayed in the Japanese Teahouse (although we made a reservation for the Makua room but didn't realize it untill we checked out and looked at our reservation). Anyway, the teahouse bedroom is a bit old, but the bathroom is new fashioned and very nice. The B&B is... More

This rustic older place is well maintained and is surrounded by trees and flowers. Perfect base to explore the west and northwest side of the Big Island. It is away from the busy tourist areas and very reasonably priced. There are multiple different choices of rooms to stay in. We stayed 3 nights in the upstairs Jasmine Room which was... More

As we prefer to stay in small B&Bs rather than in big resort hotels, we found this B&B outside Kona on the uphill side. The buildings lay very scenic in the middle of many trees and flowers. This property is situated in a bend of the uphill road. That you can get to such nice places you need a road... More

Located in the hills above Kona, in a rustic setting, the "house of peace" was a perfect spot to start a visit of the Big Island. The room was very comfortable. The breakfast area was outside, under cover, and provided a great view of the grounds, birds feeding, and a few turkeys gobbling their way through life. The staff were... More

Worst stay of my whole trip. The Hale Maluhia sits within a sharp bend in the road, so traffic noise is quite pronounced, especially when trucks accelerate going up the hill. Internet connection was intermittent. The whole place felt and looked rather shabby. And, in the morning, you have to cook your own breakfast!

In our notes about our Country Inn we have carefully noted that our Bed and Breakfast is a Buffet with a DYI Omelet Bar with Bird watching. And for $95. per night you can not find a better experience in Kona And that our little Country Inn does have work traffic in the mornings and evenings. Now Shabby, That is... More
