This was our second stay at Honu Kai and it was just as good, if not better than our first. The location, value and hospitality can't be beat. Wendi and Dave really treat you like family. We've stayed at resorts and other b&b's on the Big Island and we truly feel that Honu Kai can't be beat. All of the... More

Both bed(room) and breakfast were wonderful. The hosts are gracious and the grounds are beautiful. Not much else to say that hasn't already been said. Bonus points for cats, geckos and birds. Hope to return someday! More

David and Wendi have that unique ability to make everyone feel at home with their warmth and hospitality. Tasty, gourmet breakfasts of enormous proportions that tide you over until dinner on most days. Wendi is a fount of knowledge and prepares a "care package" depending upon the activity planned for the day. Easy access to Kailua Town and the Hawaii... More

Our own mommies never sent us out for a day of fun as well prepared and well fed as Wendi and Dave. We were so nurtured in the home-like atmosphere, that we wanted to go running back when we saw the lack of amenities at the next place we stayed. We feel that we made new friends, and hope that... My husband and I had such a wonderful time at Honu Kai. This B&B really is THE best. The breakfasts were out of this world....my expectations about the food were very high and they somehow exceeded everything I could have imagined. We were in the private cabin and it was one of the most beautiful rooms I've ever seen. It... More

Honu Kai is like a home away from home. Peaceful and quiet, with bird songs in the background, and interesting guests and hosts to chat with when you want company. The Nigori Room is at the far end of the lanai-private, yet only a few feet from the outdoor coffee bar/kitchen area where you can stash your drinks and snacks.... More

My wife and I had our wedding ceremony on Big Island in November 2011, and our decision to stay at Honu Kai B&B instead of choosing a fancy hotel was ABSOLUTELY right. Wendi and Dave were so friendly and thoughtful that we felt as if we were staying at our uncle's place, and at the same time their hospitality and... More

What's to be said except yes, it really is as great as the reviews say. Yes, the property is lovely, yes, the rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable, yes, the location is convenient (if you have a rental car), and yes, the breakfast is delicious. But really, it's all about Wendi and Dave. They feel like instant friends... More

This is one of the nicest B and Bs my wife and I have stayed at. Beautiful, clean and comfortable rooms, fantastic breakfast, and your hosts Dave and Wendi are very thoughtful and organized to make your stay enjoyable. I really enjoyed the open setting of their home with beautiful gardens and trees. We enjoyed meeting Dave and Wendi, getting... More

My wife and I stayed at Honu Kai B&B for four nights in December 2011. We had previously stayed at a handful of B&B's in the states, Puerto Rico, and Italy. Our stay at Honu Kai exceeded our expectations...the best overall B&B experience we've had to date. The Big Island is adventurous and fun in itself, but Honu Kai B&B... More
