this hostel wasn’t what we expected, we arrived they didn’t explain anything about the hostel & there 100’s of rules, they just took us to the private dorm room and that was it! There was 2 seperate rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen... we had the place to ourselves due to no one been in the other room, well thats... More

I personally felt that this hostel wasn't up to scratch. The carpet in our downstairs room had stains, the sheets were thin and old and bunk beds noisey. We weren't provided with a key to our 4 bed dorm so our things didn't feel secure when we left for the day. The area the hostel is in wasn't one I... More

Just looking for a reasonably priced place in expensive Kona area to casually store stuff while exploring and packing up to leave. The semi-private rooms on second floor provided great access to bath/kitchen/tv amenities without having to share with many random people. I could lock my bedroom door and leave my things behind as needed, without being too far from... More

I think the headline says a lot already but I will tell you a few more details: - the room I'm staying in has old carpet with a lot a stains, the room next to us doesn't even have carpet, you walk on concrete - the shower is moldy - in the bathroom ceiling is a big hole, also in... More

Need I say more? This place could be great but they need to get their act together & clean out the bugs.

I just returned from a disappointing trip to Hawaii and we also experienced bed bugs (second floor B suite). I had bites all over me and once we figured out that the bites were bed bugs (bugs were confirmed in between the mattress and boxspring) I decided to leave that day (2 days early) There was no sympathy from the... I spent one night at Patey's Place Hostel/ Hale Koa Wood Inn and had an unfortunate experience with bed bugs which ended up being incredibly painful and itchy. In order to be fair, I don't believe that the whole hostel is infested because my friend and the other guy in our dorm did not get them. However, if you're highly... More

The accommodations were adequate and the "volunteer" staff was friendly but the manager Zero was just a rude and unpleasent. he yelled and cursed at the father of the other person sharing our unit for not observing "quite" time even though we couldn't hear him in our room right across from them. He was also very rude. I would never... More

My friend and I only spent one night at Patey's Place, and it was good for us. Free parking, free wifi, good info, fairly friendly staff. I really enjoyed the hammock which was perfect for doing a little reading. We stayed in a dorm room which was fine but nothing special. I would probably not stay longer than a night... More
