We just stayed 4 nights at the magic sands in Kona. All the units in this building appear to be studios with a small kitchenette, 1 bathroom and a living area with room for a bed and futon or foldout couch. After having a large 2br condo in maui, this initially seemed tight for our family of 4, but it... more

Today is my last day in Hawaii (7/24/09) and I wanted to tell you that if you're interested in staying at the Magic Sands (Unit 302) it's the best ever. Remodeled, comfortable and luxurious. Reserve directly with LongBoardStudios.com (look for the button titled "Oceanfront Vacation Shack"). You truly will enjoy yourself. more

The first night at Big Island we stayed at Kona Tiki Hotel. We couldn't get a room for longer here, because it was booked out, so we went and found one at the Kona Magic Sands Resort. We had to find a travel agent to book the room and pay for it. The location of the Kona Magic Sands Resort... more

We stayed in Unit 314, corner unit with great view. Quiet, clean and very well equipped. The unit had a bedroom with a queen bed and a hide-a-bed. Second room was a kitchen living area. Very well laid out. Beach fantastic. Would definitely recommend staying on the third floor. No street noise. more

Unit 311: The condo ran us ~150$/night. We had booked a 5 day 4 night stay (7/8-7/12; 2008). We stayed <18 hours, let me explain... I know this is a long review of our experience, but if you want the highlights they are as follows: 1) Ants and Cockroaches galore! 2) Furniture and Appliances are old, dirty, mistreated, not maintained.... more

My family and I stayed in unit 206 at the Kona Magic Sands for 5 nights. We booked our stay through Hawaii Resort Management (konahawaii.com). The hotel is about a 20 minute drive from the Kona airport. First, you have to check in at the Islander Inn (about a 5 minute drive from Magic sands). After that, you are free... more

Unit #303 - This was our first time on the Big Island and we had a phenomenal vacation. We were there for almost two weeks and still and just touched the surface of the things there are there to do and see. A return trip is already in the works. I was very pleased we found the Magic Sands and... more

Unit 304 - Plenty of room for two people. Best views from the third floor - but no elevator. Assigned parking spot. This unit has one of the large decks. We thought the proximity of Jamesons' Restaurant might be annoying, but we didn't even notice it. We ate our morning and evening meals on the deck watching the people play... more

I stayed at the Kona Magic Sands for 3 wks. I was traveling alone and looking for some R and R. The studio I have was on the first floor. Very clean and had a new remodeled bathroom. No A/C, but, was only a liitle hot in the afternoon. For the price it was nice. Oceanfront and the waves were... more
