Don't stay in #139, Kona Islander Condos booked through Booking dot com. This place has a great location in the centre of town. The staff we met were polite and helpful. It has a nice central pool and jacuzzi. Each unit is subletted by different people/agents. Ours as it turned out wasn't the best. Avoid Gayle in #139. We expected... More

It's hard to be too hard critical as we swapped our Aussie club points for this week in Kona. The islander only has a few of the timeshare units in a fairly large complex. We also knew the place to be older and tired. This did not explain some things which really should not happen in a international location in... More

Our second stay at the Kona Islander. Our room was very nice with an excellent ocean view. The studio had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The grounds are very nice as is the pool and hot tub. While parking is tight, we found a spot every night. There is some road noise and occasionally a few street people can... More

Well i should have looked on tripadvisor before staying here. It was a last minuter decision without the internet. This place is pretty run down, especially for the price. The room we were given was of a lower standard than a rough backpackers. Torn linen, filthy shower and bathroom. I know these are individually owned, but surely management must check to... More

I read some unruly reviews and want to make sure potential guests are not deterred by a few bad apples (units). The units are small studio condos and privately owned. Each unit is different. Residents and guests live on property. I have stayed at the Islander on every trip once I found a unit I liked. I stay in unit... More

I stayed here with my Mom in 2009. Each condo is individually owned so you will get a different experience. We stayed in a studio condo on the third floor and it was very clean and comfortable. It contained a bed and a pullout bed. This unit had a mini fridge and a microwave. Some, if not most of the... More

We have enjoyed whole stay in this studio. Very very clean and in very good location, great sea view, no beach next to (10-15 min walk to small beach) but best way to explore this island and the beaches is by renting car and then you can find everything in the flat what you need for beach. There is two... More

The room we had was outdated and it wouldnt take much to improve it immensely. There was no stove and it was lacking in general maintenance (ie. the bathroom door was a slider, but it didnt fit properly and the screen door was off the track). I imagine that this is privately owned unit and therefore all units will be... More

First, let me say...we LOVE Kona, HI. We lucked in to our accommodations at the Kona Islander in an oceanfront room. It was lovely. A bit outdated, but clean and comfortable. The view across Ali'i Dr, spectacular! However, with oceanfront...I forgot that there would be the sounds of the small town (happy people partying) and the traffic from Ali'i Dr.... More

We just spent 2 weeks at the Kona Islander. Our room (unit 241) was all I hoped it would be for the very affordable price - recently renovated, clean, well stock kitchen, great bed and convenient to everything downtown Kona had to offer. One great bonus was the full size fridge in the kitchen(most units only have mini fridge). The... More
