and I agree with the last reviewer. some rooms have ocean views, others do not. and some units are managed by a large management company others individual folks. which means quality can vary. so read the reviews. I normally would go thru the large management company, though their customer service can be not very customer servce. place is centrally located... More

The location is very nice, and the setting of the buildings as well. The individual "condos" vary a lot in furnishings and upkeep. One can have all sorts of kitchenware or practically none at all. Sheets, pillows, etc seem clean if a bit threadbare in some rooms. Ask to see a room before signing on. I had one of the... More

Review for unit #237 First, we LOVE the location and ambiance, in the heart of Kailua-Kona, off of Ali'i drive, across from the beach, and yet nestled in a very quiet island garden atmosphere. The grounds at the inn are impeccably cared for, too. Improvement projects were underway when we were there, such as stone work and re-roofing. Loud and... More

I highly recommend room 229 for anyone traveling solo or in a pair. Very clean and nicely set up with a bed and a futon, small but usable kitchen, balcony, and a TV. Plenty of space and multiple mirrors. Closet has pool toys and cleaning products as well.

I'm reviewing unit #346 that is owned by Gigi. We spent a month in this unit and the place is perfect. The sound of the ocean is always present---even while you sleep. I'm typing this review while sitting on the lanai and the ocean is a mere 50 yards away. This place has everything you need including wifi, a great... More

This place operates as a series of individually let/managed units within a set of four blocks. Some units are actually homes rather than holiday let's. Our unit was quite worn out, and the bathroom had seen better days. It was a bit strange using the kitchen sink for washing, as the only sink in the place. Eating had to be... More

As times have become leaner, by necessity I have looked for less expensive lodging that still fulfilled my basic requirements: Near the beach, pool & jacuzzi, places to walk to, quality food nearby and comfortable, pleasant surroundings. The Kona Islander made me feel like a chump for ever having spent more. I paid $89 per night for a room with... More

Terrible! The right hand (check-in) does not know what the left hand (security) is doing. Completely disjointed customer service with personnel who cannot problem solve anything that isn't prescribed as a 'rule'. Nearly three hours to get hot scalding water that could not be turned off in the shower dealt with and then front office office spent a good portion... More
