I booked with Gayle and all was well till I PAID! A long review but will save unpleasant surprises for whoever books here. The intial correspondence quoted a reduced total rate with ‘out- cleaning’ fees and taxes and also mentioning in upper case that they were waiving the upfront $250 damage deposit, with signed waiver (no explanation so I thought... We stayed here for 2 nights and liked it for its location and the price. It's a quick walk to all the restaurants, bars, fresh fruit/veg market and the beach. The room was comfortable and convenient to have basic kitchen facilities (no stove) albeit a little weird to share the kitchen and bathroom sink/vanity, not a problem for us. Would... More

I stayed at the Kona Islander Inn twice and saw 2 other rooms as well, from friends staying there, and each one varied in cleanliness, hominess, decoration and amenities. My first room was sparse, with little decoration but a nice bed, couch and table outside on the lanai, plus a small kitchen with a mini fridge and a microwave &... More

It's inexpensive and centrally located, but in need of a good scrub at least or a serious makeover at best. Moldy spots in the tile and no toiletry amenities for an overnight stay. A safe spot for an emergency overnight with a comfortable clean bed.

Can't get any better location than this. We stayed Thursday-Saturday for about $65/day. Right across the street from the water. We stayed in a small condo with 1 bed and a futon. Clean and friendly. Right in the middle of Main Street so it attractions on either side of the Inn.

This is the second year my husband and I have stayed at the Kona Islander. We stayed for 4 weeks in 2013 and 6 weeks in 2014. We love this place. We're not resort people and the quaint feel of the Islander is perfect. It's not for everyone - the rooms are fine. Both that we stayed in were very... More

We stayed at this property last week and this time brought a companion with us. As soon as my husband and our companion got into the room, there was only 1 bed and a futon. My husband thought he had booked two rooms. There were only 2 sets of towels and no sheets for our traveling companion. My husband called... More

We read all of the other reviews and were leery. Then we had a great deal of contact with Gigi and learned each unit is individually owned. So we got a great deal and booked. When we walked in and saw the ocean view from the condo it was AWESOME! We loved the charming Hawaiian decor. The bed was very... More

Very nice place. Friendly staff...Perfect location. Parking is an issue...but the location makes up for it.... your close enough to leave your car and walk the boardwalk....These are individually owned condos.

I stayed one day to be in Kona and price-shopped. Stayed 2-1-14, king room, #121, paid about $115 with tax. The room and linen were clean. The closet had a smelly shirt hanging inside and the bathroom cabinet had a paint can and brush. Base molding was gone in one place and loose in another. The curtain barely covered the... More
