The wifey and I stayed here on an overnight getaway, and staying here made me think of the 80's. The rooms and elevator smelled like second had smoke, and everything had a funky smell to it. It was somewhat cheap, but still expensive when comparing similar hotels on other islands. Anyway, the bed was nice and the room looked somewhat... More

Getting a bit old, that's not a problem, it actually somewhat adds a bit of a tropical charm. But quite cheap, not in price, but in mind : no shampoo (really!), a breakfast that is quite pathetic, worthy of a roadside motel. That hotel is constantly full, one feels milked for one's worth and that's not very worthy of the... More

It is hard for me to believe this hotel has a single vote for 4 or even 5 stars. This hotel is a disaster. Very loud all night and woke up at least 10 times from the noise from every direction. Entire hotel is in shambles. SHAMBLES!! Every square inch of it needs total attention and remodeling or simply tearing... More

I was desperate to find a place to stay at reasonable cost at the last minute during peak season so I ended up here. Thank goodness it's only for one night. As they say, "you get what you pay for". Location is great, staff were nice, but the hotel itself is in bad shape. I had to walk on flip-flops... More

Very similar to Uncle Billy's Hilo Hotel. Good, friendly, inexpensive hotel. Clean, modest, etc. Great for the price. Great for the location. Could you find better, yes, but will you pay very very dearly for it in a similar location, you bet!

We are enjoying our stay so much at Uncle Billy's....We love the friendly, relaxed feeling of family values and true Aloha...Traci and her father, the local icon and legend, Uncle Billy, do everything they can to make their guests feel welcome and valued.....Their attitudes of graciousness, extends to everyone who works here, who also have this same attitude of graciousness,... we just spent 1 night here because we arrived very late at night. needed a place near the airport before continuing the rest of our holiday on the Big Island This hotel is shabby, but clean and the grounds are nice...so are the employees. There is a free breakfast included, which is rare in Hawaii. Nothing to write home about... More

Rooms are broken down and in need of lots of repair. It is overpriced for the low quality it provides, Yes, it is centrally located and walking distance to most of the downtown, but for a little more money you can get better. No AC so I tried to use the ceiling fan, but it was so noisy I couldn't... More

Stayed a night here. It is in a prime location (literally in the heart of Kailua town). The room had a funky odor, carpet was stained and old, air conditioning didn't work well (LOW didn't work at all and Medium was super loud) and the sink and bath tub didn't drain well. Room accommodations included 2 bath towels. I called... More

Chose for relatively low price for Kona. The rooms are okay--furnishing a bit dark, but room is easily brightened by opening the curtains to the balcony. My room had an outer wall on one side of stone, making it smell a bit musty. Surprisingly quiet. It is set back a bit from the main street Nice balcony--could almost see the... More
