This is not a typical hotel experience. Be sure you know your expectations for accomodations. We have stayed here three times and generally had a good experience, with some glitches. Upside: These are small condo units so they can provide more of an at-home experience - fully supplied kitchens, washer/dryer, etc. It's a little like staying in a friend's apartment.... More

We stayed two nights (21 and 22 April 2012) at the Kona Bali Kai in a studio unit across the road from the ocean. The unit was somewhat dated, but with a good bed, spacious, and with a lanai looking towards the ocean (which however was largely obscured by the main hotel building opposite). Being on a busy road there... More

This place is great if you don't want to be in the 'downtown' area but would like to be close to it. it is a clean place with friendly staff. the beach is obviously super close to you. there is a bit of sand but alot of lava rock, as well as sea urchins, so shoes or sandals/slippers are a... More

Stayed at this hotel with school, on a science filed trip from Australia. We thought we would have 3 to a room like we did at other places, but to our surprise they did not have rooms available for us, and we had to have 6 teenagers to a room. We had to share beds which was an inconevience. The... More

We knew we were staying in an older condo and chose this because of the location and that it had two bed/two baths. But, we were very disappointed with the condition of the condo. The good: The view is awesome and right on the water. We sat on the lanai most of the time while in the condo so we... More

If you want oceanfront at an affordable cost, this complex is likely for you. We stayed for almost three weeks in a unit on the second floor. While the unit was very '70's in decor, the beds were very good; it was FULLY stocked with new towels, bedding, and kitchenware. It had (2) flatscreen televisions. But, the problem with Kona... More

Very old rooms that are in bad condition. Actual hotel is on the ocean but the condo rooms are across a busy highway. Due to highway noise, sitting on the lanai or even having the doors open is impossible. There is no ocean access. Room is very noisy. TV is impossible to watch unless you are on the bed. No... More

We were only here for a night, then moved on to another hotel. Our unit was clean and taken care of. We had an ocean front view. The staff are particularly unfriendly and rude. Didn't really feel like a welcoming place to stay, so we moved on to a hotel down the road. Our condo itself was nice though. It... More

Very clean, pleasant stay. We had a 2 br apartment that was very comfortable. A bit far from things so must have a car. Fully self catering. Da poke shack downstairs and a store across the road for beer and coffee

Synopsis: Overall we had a great experience. We were able to change condos after one week to a much nicer unit - 7 nights in one and 10 nights in the second. In each case the oceanview experience was exceptional. The condos are a little tired because they are older but if your condo has been cared for it will... More
