I came here with my wife during our honeymoon at the big island. We got the apartment #334 and we stayed almost 2 weeks. We were extremely happy of our apartment: clean, nice kitchen, TV, comfortable bed and we didn't miss anything. We have spent a very pleasant holiday in here. We got the swimming pool and we had many... More

Please don't let the great photos fool you. The Kona Bali Kai condo complex is sad and dated. Nothing luxurious about the place, from the damp carpeted hallways to the busy thoroughfare it sits upon. We had the displeasure of renting Unit 406. The owner was an absolute pleasure to deal with, but boy was I shocked at the place.... More

Aloha, Your recent booking with a private owner through VRBO seems to have been very disappointing. This unit is not part of our rental program at Kona Bali Kai. Castle Resorts & Hotels maintains the Front Desk and manages 60 units at Kona Bali Kai, so on your next trip don’t worry, stay with Castle Resorts & Hotels we have... More

I am not sure how to rate this place. First off, SPECIFICALLY ASK IF YOUR UNIT WILL HAVE AIR CONDITIONING! I did ask and was told that the unit I was renting did NOT have AC but I figured the ocean breeze would cool us off, that was not the case! Somehow it just stayed really hot in the unit.... More

The rooms were dirty and dumpy, and the whole hotel was outdated overall. The ocean view was nice but swimming in the water was not an option due to rocky areas full of sea urchins. Air conditioning was only available in certain rooms, upon request. I was overall unsatisfied with my stay. This was the only uncomfortable experience in my... More

Aloha, It is disappointing that our property did not meet your expectations. Although Kona Bali Kai is an older complex, we work with our owners and are continuously upgrading the units in our rental program. There are a few spots on the beach that are conducive to wading but swimming is not recommended; however there are some great swimming spot... More

The Pros: 1) Stunning view - it's hard to have anything but positive thoughts when you think about Kailua-Kona 2) Overall size and amenities of the condo are nice 3) Pool, hot tub, and beachfront were all very clean and well maintained 4) Location is good, not great - a little far down from all the excitement The Cons: 1)... On Alii Drive but a little more down from the main stream. Beach is beautiful but not to swim. AC is amazing but it's on timer. Be careful ceiling fan right above AC. WiFi doesn't really work only on certain spots in living room. Clean rooms and condo areas. Pool and Jacuzzi is a plus. In the condo the bathroom... More

The room was decent. I liked the full size fridge and the nice countertops. Nice view. Free Wifi. I was surprised by how many wires were on the ground around the tv. I was glad our child was not with us due to that . I unplugged a lamp so I could plug in a charger and the outlet nearly... More

The only good thing about this hotel is the location of few of the condos that are ocean facing. I thought I will be getting a ocean facing condo as the hotel name suggests but its disguising. As I reached the hotel front desk, the clerk told me I have to pay $40 extra for ocean view condo. When I... More

Our recent visit was on June 24 and we stayed at the ocean front room 412. We are local residents here on the Big Island and we took our two teenage boys to relax at Bali Kai. We all enjoyed our room and stay so much we extended another night. The office staff and security guy was awesome and assisted... More
