The Royal Kona Resort must have been quite a place to stay in the past. The property is really starting to show its age, with the entire resort needing major renovations. The room and its furnishing were in poor condition. The pool was in need of major repairs. The common areas were tired and rundown. Having made the above remarks,... More

Aloha TA family, we truly appreciate everyone's reviews, it's our goal to ensure we're offering a clean, well maintained resort for all guests to enjoy. The views, location, food and beverage are all without question some of the best in Kona. We're definitely the best value around. Warmest Mahalo to all! More

Our fourth time back to the Royal Kona Resort was excellent as always. This year we had a corner king room in the Alii tower and could watch the spinner dolphins from our lani. We . brought my parents along this year and they also will be return guests they had a great time.

Aloha TA reviewers! Here is another perfect example of well traveled guests, did their homework (year after year) come to Kona's best value for location, and have another wonderful time. Remember in Hawaii, or wherever you travel, there are many options to choose from. If you are looking for 5 stars, you will find and may for them, if you... More

Convenient location right on the water, good amenities, very nice lobby area, but mostly in need of a facelift. We had a good meal at the onsite restaurant. Very nice oceanview terraces! Parking is a pain. We opted to go for the cheaper room with no view, and it was quite noisy from outside noise. We would probably stay here... More

Aloha TA family, great review from these seasoned travelers. Yes, a face lift would be nice, but a full renovation isn't in the current plan. We do continually make improvements to the resort and rooms, and follow a scheduled routine maintenance and cleaning plan. This allows us to offer a clean and well maintained resort, while offering the best location... More

We traveled to Kona for my girlfriend's birthday and wanted to stay at a moderate hotel. The Royal Kona Resort has awesome views of Kailua-Kona which includes the pier. The grounds and rooms are clean with friendly staff and security. The best part of our stay there was the salt-water lagoon that is enclosed by natural rocks but will overflow... More

Aloha! It's nice to see our Kamaaina (island residents) staying with us, and enjoying the resort. Our private lagoon is also home to the green sea turtles at high tide, they come in to feed as well. It's a perfect place for the first time snorkeler, or one who's not comfortable in the open ocean. We welcome our residents and... More

We stayed here in August and were deeply disappointed. The view was super and the hotel has great bones but is in desperate need of a remodel. The floors are filthy, the furniture very old and run down, the bed and bedding is old and awful. There is very little furniture on the large rooms, we used the ironing board... More

Aloha TA Family, as many of our readers and valued guest know, the Royal Kona Resort is not the newest kid on the block, and is not a luxury resort. Our goal is to provide a clean and well maintained resort in the best location of Kona, at the best possible value. The majority of our clientele have amazing stays,... More

Great Location, Nice staffs, amazing sunset from your room, walking distance to tons of shops around. We were given a upgrade to corner room ocean view and you cannot ask for more. Spending hours watching the never ending ocean ( whales jumping every morning) with Sunset views from our room was magical. Its a bit old hotel but that didn't... More

Aloha TA reviewers! This well traveled guest pretty much said it all, best location with the best views. Yes, its true, we're not the newest kid on the block, but we strive to meet all of our guests expectations. In many instances travelers have Porterhouse appetites, but have Sirloin budgets, and in turn leads to some expectations not being met.... More

I stayed at this resort Nov. 15 - Nov. 20, 2012 attending my friend's birthday celebration in Kona. She has stayed at this hotel several times and recommended it as the place to stay for our gathering. I would say there were about 10 out of 24 staying at the resort. I had an ocean front room as did several... More

We stayed here for 5 out of our 7 day vacation. The good thing about it is the location, just a short walk to Ali'i drive. The room was clean and comfortable. The maid service was very prompt and accommodating to our schedule. The view was nice from our balcony overlooking the pool and ocean. The grounds were kept clean.... More

Aloha TA family, here we have another example of our guests loving the location, but was let down by a few experiences. We strive to provide a clean, well maintained resort for our budget minded travelers. Sometimes we miss the mark on certain guest expectations, and that's truly disappointing. Visited 11/19/12 - 11/23/12. Good location, easy walk into town. The hotel is older and looks dated but was clean. The staff is friendly. The clientele mostly seems to be senior citizens who have been returning here for years. The beds are only inner spring, no pillow top so for me very uncomfortable. The bathroom is not vented (personal pet... More

Aloha TA family, its nice to hear that they loved our location, I'm hoping they had a wonderful time exploring the amazing Big Island of Hawaii.
