Back when this hotel was built, it was extremely impressive. Great location, architecture, and furnishings. Well, it appears that things need to be up-dated. It is a good value and really adequate. Our only complaint was the somewhat noisy AC, but the weather allowed us to cool the room when we were out and it stayed cool for sleeping. Our... More

We had requested a king bed when we reserved our room for 10 nights at the Royal Kona. We were given two double beds, making my 6 foot husband very uncomfortable. We asked every day for a room with a bigger bed and no one even looked into it for us they just said "we are full". Finally on the... More

Do not let them put you into the Bay Tower - it's away from the main hotel and very noisy. We couldn't sleep the first night because of the extremely loud air-conditioning units on the roof. We complained and they offered us another room in the same tower 2 floors down. Not good enough; then they offered to upgrade us... More

The resort is in a great location and the outside is very impressive. Close to a lot of shopping and eateries. Once inside the room is a different story. Baths need work and A/C was very loud. We did enjoy the bar and view. I guess that for the price it was okay. Internet should be included though. More

Was supposed to get a corner king with ocean view. First room was so musty smelling that I went back down to front desk. Second room overlooked air conditioning units and restaurant roof!!! Finally got a double with ocean view and promised they would try and find a corner king. Never heard back. I stayed in double the two weeks... More

We spent six nights here and loved every minute. As many have noted the hotel has that old Hawaii feel--lots of wood, open space, low "towers," and the like. We stayed in the Alii tower and found our ocean front room just perfect. The fridge and lanai were really appreciated. As others have mentioned there is an internet charge, but... More

Great location! Charging for parking was a stretch but the internet pricing is not even in the ball park. After calling at least 5 hotels in the area I suggested to one of the managers to get a reality check on the internet charge of $9.95 per computer per room per day. More

My wife and I were staying in Hilo for part of our stay on the Big Island, and we drove over to Kona for a short period of time. We easily checked in at the Royal Kona. I immediately loved the immense lobby without walls. Great decor, islandish without being garish. The room was sufficient and roomy. The AC worked... More

We arrived after 11 hours of flying. The room was refreshing. The hotel juts out into the ocean and we could see the waves and the town from the balcony. The room was fine, pool was cold. We enjoyed a number of Mai Tai's over the 5 nights we stayed there. The luau was also very interesting and fun. More

We stayed in this hotel for six nights. Our room was old fashioned but comfortable. We upgraded for $30 a night to an ocean view but I am not sure if this was good value. The hotel seemed to be in a style from the past but the features such as the wood carvings and bar area had a lot... More
