With its open air lobby, pool, and both restaurants right on the water and most of the 436 balcony rooms providing either ocean view or oceanfront accommodations this hotel serves up a pretty high degree of luxury at a very reasonable price. The R.K. is within walking distance of Kailua-Kona and across the street from numerous shops, restaurants, and the... More

Stayed here in April 2014. Its centrally located and walking distance from everything. The staff is unbelievably courteous and helpful and their rates cant be beat in comparison to other surrounding hotels. the views are excellent and their luau is the best. Also, Don the Beachcomber restaurant and bar located at the hotel are awesome places to eat or just... More

Stayed for 3 nights in April, location cannot be beaten, we upgraded to an ocean view room (what can I say I had the aloha spirit). I am pleased we did, because the room really didnt have much else going for it but the spectacular view. Huge old sad furniture and fittings and painted a strange "hospital" cream colour. It... More

Our first trip to Hawaii and we found this majestic looking hotel in a great location to downtown Kona. The service and grounds were perfect, then we got to our room. The first thing I saw was hair all over the bathroom. I called the front desk immediately whom promptly upgraded our room. I greatly appreciated the service. The rooms... More

All our room was, was a bed. It's in a really good location but room was quite empty. The internet was expensive and the movies to hire cost more than going to the theatre. The staff were helpful. But it was just a bed for us. Would only recommend based on location

We stayed here just for a couple of nights and really have nothing to complain about. The restaurant is quite expensive but a great place to relax with just one drink. Building and rooms are quite old and could use a renovation.

I stayed here for a week in April 2014. When I arrived, I found my room to be run down and dirty The paint was peeling off of the mirrors, the furniture chipped, scratched and looking as though not even fir for a yard sale. I went to use a glass from the room to get a drink of water... More

I have never written a negative review, this is the first. The Royal Kona is probably the most mediocre hotel we have ever stayed in of the 24 that we have been in over the last 3 years. It is in dire need of major repairs and cleaning. The lounge area was nice, pool was small but nice, grounds were... More

Although the Royal Kona has an amazing location nestled on the shore in Kailua-Kona right next to Coconut Grove on Ali'i Drive, I would not stay here again due to the dated rooms, lack of room service (as in none), and disappointing breakfast. I stayed here on my honeymoon and although we had a view of the amazing ocean right... More

This hotel is a land-mark in Kona. We stayed there on an around the island fun trip. The hotel is dated but the room was clean and well cared for. The view was spectacular ( partial ocean ) , no road noise, and convenient to town. The staff was friendly and willing to accommodate. The bottom line is location, location.... More

Aloha TA family, nice to see our guests from WA had a great time while staying with us. They point out our wonderful location, quite rooms, and great views. And yes, while not the shiniest penny in the jar, we do offer very clean and well maintained rooms. Not to mention Kona's best bar location with happy hour nightly from... More
