When one thinks of tropical paradise at a modern hotel, this is it. Cool giant open air tiki loung at the edge of the ocean with relaxing music, great drinks. The room was nice, comfortable bed, nice tv. The luau was great. They have recently put in new stone floors in the lobby and lounge and we could tell they... more

We recently spent 9 days at the resort for our wedding/honeymoon. I had called ahead and mentioned that it was our honeymoon and when we arrived, we were upgraded to a corner ocean view room overlooking the pool and the luau. Beautiful location. Walking distance to anything in downtown Kona. It has a small pool for little kids (2 ft... more

What a top spot, overlooking the beach which just stunned us.... so different to what we expected. A lovely room in a great resort. So much to see and do here. Wished we'd stayed a couple of days longer before heading off to Waikiki. Staff most helpful, night-life, cafes, shopping all within a few short minute's walk. Great places to... more

Even though the furnishings need some serious freshing-up, the location and the service the staff provided was 5 star. more

The ad looked good, the discount was appealing , the hotel looked nice so I made the reservation. When I got my bill I found no discount, when I asked the manager for an explanation I was told to look in the fine print for the title "exclusions". I asked to see her copy of exclusions and of course she... more

Hubby and I stayed here for our 10th anniversary. We had a room in the Lagoon Tower, which allegedly had been renovated in 2007. Bathroom was the worst - mold around shower fixtures, bottom of door "peeling" and overall not very clean. Maid service wasn't the greatest and furniture had a musty odor. We didn't spend much time in the... more

We stayed at the Royal Kona for 2 nights in May. We have family on the Big Island but had never stayed downtown. This hotel was perfect for family stay. Extremely kind and courteous staff. Great location right on the water. We loved to sit by the beach bar and hear the huge waves crashes against the rocks below. We... more

This is a 3 star hotel on the water within walking distance of shops/restaurants. There are 3 buildings; all but one have been renovated. If possible, do not stay at the Bay Tower as the rooms smell old and musty. Pool was very nice, staff friendly (but wanted to put us in the Bay Tower so there was a bit... more

Just got back today from a fantastic stay at this resort. and a wonderful time in Hawaii. Having read the reviews on Trip Advisor we were reluctant but now would not hesitate to return.. If you are expecting a J.W. Marriott and 5 star luxury at these prices you will be dissappointed. On the other hand you are not going... more

We stayed at the Royal Kona resort and LOVED it. We were upgraded to a beautiful room in the Alli tower with a full ocean view. The room was very nice with a balcony where we enjoyed viewing the ocean and city of Kona. The hotel location is the best! It is an easy walk to Kailua-Kona which has numerous... more
