We stayed at the Kona Tiki Hotel for 6 nights in August 2007. The rooms are quite basic (no TV, no AirCon etc.) but they are clean and do have private bathrooms and kitchen. As the hotel is located right at the oceanfront the sound of the waves is quite loud and will make it difficult to sleep well in... More

I booked 4 nights at this motel for our family back in August 2007 to stay in December 2007. I sent a $300.00 cash deposit and then realised in mid October that we were staying on another island therefore had to cancel the booking. I rang direct to explain the situation and was told that as I had given 2... More

We spent three nights in at the Kona Tiki (one in a standard room and two in a kitchenette). Overall, we were in Hawaii for 18 nights and this was the place we enjoyed the most. Originally we were at the Manago Hotel in Captain Cook, but found that to be to far from what we wanted to be doing... More

This hotel is a gem! We loved the fact that it was no frills. The location is wonderful...each room has an ocean view and you can hear the waves at night. The staff is wonderful. They are very helpful and accommodating. Parking can be a challenge, but it is workable.

Prior research identified that this was an old beachfront hotel, walking distance to Kailua-Kona, at reasonable prices. We were not disappointed, as whilst hotel is basic, it is clean and loved. Toilet paper and towels were good quality, not paper thin. Our well equiped kitchenette Room 201 was on 1st floor next to road, but only noisy when door was... More

My partner and I have stayed at the Kona Tiki numerous times over the years. We go there for the oceanfront views that don't break your budget. The crowd that stays here is friendly and unpretentious. People start talking over the continental breakfast provided in the pool area or at sunset time. Every night there is a torch lighting ceremony... More

The Kona Tiki is a nice little budget hotel in a great location. We had a room on the ground floor and then the 3'rd floor and loved the ocean view. The rooms were a bit dated and the curtains were not very good so it was pretty bright in the morning. The waves were crashing against the seawall day... More

Stayed for two nights here while visiting the Kona side of the Big Island. Had the closest room to the pool on the second floor. It was wonderful. While on the Big Island I have found you spend most of your time away from the hotel anyway ( or at least your should be out exploring!) This was a perfect... More

We arrived late and took the last room - top floor, nearest the road but with sea views. My initial concern was that the traffic noise would be too loud but in the end, the crashing waves actually kept me awake most of the night instead. However, my partner loves the sound of crashing waves! The room was large, even... More

Stayed for 5 nights - A truly charming little hotel, located as close as you can get to the ocean and only 15 mins walk from Kona centre. OK so this place is a little rough around the edges but the price, approx $70/night incl tax, coupled with the location makes it a great option. You go to sleep listening... More
