We stay at Riga hotel for one night during our trip to Bucharest. The main advantage of this hotel is the amazing view to Danube river from the rooms and from the panorama restaurant. We had an economic apartment on the 13th floor and the view is amazing. The apartment is big and comfortable, but absolutely worn-out , with old... More

I was going to rate the hotel as 'very good' because of the free room upgrade with great view of the Danube, nice room decor & bathroom fixtures, complimentary water, & friendly staff. I did not visit the gym or restaurant. What made me change the rating to 'excellent' was the the lady who served us at breakfast who was... More

We were there for two nights and we had reserved 2 executive rooms, but they give us 2 suites for the same price. Thanks them for that. Great view, nice, spacious modern, well decorated room. Very big and nice bathroom. The Panorama restaurant was disappointing. The food wasn't good enough for the price you pay. Gourmet prices and portions but... More

From the outside of the hotel it looks like a big block of flats and it does make you wonder what the experience would be like from the inside. However when we walked through the reception area we were given a friendly welcome and informed that we had been upgraded to Executive Rooms on the 10th floor, which provided excellent... More

Our friend celebrated her wedding here and we had the best time. The food was excellent and everybody was beyond nice, the receptionist, waitress, everybody. Then our night in the 10th floor with an amazing view of the Danube and Rumania on the other side was priceless. Cons: The bathrooms in Bulgaria are weird, they all flood so idk if... More

We had a wonderful few days at the Grand Hotel Riga in Ruse. Our room was clean and well-furnished. All of the upper level rooms, "Executive" rooms, are recently renovated - I think the lower level rooms aren't so modern. Be aware of this when booking. The lower scores on reviews seem to be from people who have booked the... More

I was there for one night in executive double room. Staff on reception was very friendly. I got 10th floor, as they explained, newly renovated. And it really was, it smelled like a new. View to the Danube and the city was really perfect. In the room there was welcome fruit and cookies, free bottles of watter, free tea and... More

I have stayed in another local hotel in the past, but this has sadly closed, so last week I took a chance and booked the Riga, based on good reviews I have seen here. I wasn't disappointed. From the outside this communist-era tower block looks uninspiring, but many of the floors have had a revamp. I booked an executive room,... More

A Communist era showpiece which proved to be a very happy surprise once inside. Very good reception with (seemingly always) a competent speaker of English on duty. I always go budget and must agree with some critical reports of cheaper rooms being dated, needing refits. refurbs etc. But all was clean and in good order (if a tad shabby). Quite... More
