I stayed at the English Guest House for the first time in August 2010, halfway through an epic trip in an ancient Land Cruiser from Burgas in Bulgaria to Cluj-Napoca in Transilvania. Having the occasion to pass through Ruse again (this time in the reverse direction), this was my first choice for accommodation. I booked at a few hours' notice,... More

We visited in Feb 2014 and our stay was pleasurable. We were upgraded to a bigger room upon arrival due to it being the quiet season at no extra cost. The location is great, 20 minute walk from the train station, 5 minute walk to the city center.

Hi, We visited Ruse few days ago, without making any bookings, so we ended up in front of this Hostel, I'd call it, at 3 am in the morning and just rang the bell. We read few reviews about it before leaving home, but we haven`t decided in time to make a reservation. So, there we were in the middle... More

I guess we made the mistake of expecting a hotel. The location is fantastic, walking distance to the Danube and freedom square. We booked an apartment for 3 nights for our family. The manager was very friendly and helpful and she had excellent English. The apartment itself was spacious and well equipped but quite outdated, even the newer furnishings have... More

I stayed here for two nights on a cycling trip. I've backpacked a lot before and liked the shared kitchen where you can cook your own food and prepare breakfast from the ingredients that are provided. The room was clean, nothing extraordinary, but quiet, we slept well. The owner was friendly and organised a driver to see the medieval town... More

For 70 BGN per night you will get much better conditions in the just few metres away hotels like Riga and Lilia nearby. Small rooms, bad noise isolation, common toilets and bathrooms for some rooms, breakfast must be prepared by the guests themselves. Thanks, but no, thanks!

To start with, we made the mistake of following the Lonely Planet’s map to get to English Guest House, rather than the instructions from the guest house itself. It would have been helpful if there had been some mention of the fact that they had moved. Fortunately the move was only a couple of streets away. When we got there... More

The laundry is not free, but it is air dryed and done in one day. The guest house is near the Danube and within reasonable walking distance of the town center. We enjoyed walking around the center and we found a good sweet shop and restaurant. Breakfast is not prepared for you, but there is a communal kitchen with basic... More

The English Guesthouse is a great place to stay. Charming, comfortable, clean, centrally located, you can't ask for much more than that! Tasty breakfast available in the morning free of charge. Outside terrace, guest kitchen, living room, computer and wifi; it's got all the amenities one needs. Vesi is the perfect host. She picked me up with her son at... More
