This was our first visit to St. Gilgen and chose the Zur Post after reading through all hotels in the holiday brochure. We were not disappointed. The hotel is set right on the market square and we had paid extra for a larger room with a balcony. This looked out onto the square. The beds were very comfortable and rooms... More

We have just returned from holiday in Austria and our third visit to this Hotel. It is a family run hotel, in the centre of the charming village of St. Gilgen on Wolfgangsee and is a wonderful location to completely chill out in the area. There are so many opportunities to go for walks, to stroll down to the Lakeside... More

We had a great room looking over the centre of town and the lake beyond, great service, rooms etc. The breakfasts were very good. We also had one of the best evening meals in our whole stay in Austria ( 12 days)... sadly the next night we had a meal where the chef had grossly over salted ( couples on the... More

We recently stayed at the Zur Post. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly. The newer rooms are slightly more spacious but all are clean with comfortable beds. There are two sitting rooms, one has lake views. It is in a good location in the heart of the village close to boats, bus stops and cable car. The view... More

Very old hotel with some lovely features. Good food and friendly service but more staff needed for a quicker service at meal times. As previously mentioned there is no lounge to enjoy a drink and we found this to be a minor problem. There is a lounge on an upper floor but this is more for conference use with no... More

Great food and very friendly.I love the old staircase and character of the place and the position of this hotel means you are near all amenities. All my family loved it and would recommend it.We went the 7th June 2014 and we had a heatwave. It was above 27degrees C nearly all of the time sometimes hitting the 30's.The week before they... There is no lounge or bar area in the hotel to spend time after dinner. The only place to sit was on the terrace which was used by others for eating their meals. This is the first time we have visited Austria without having a lounge bar area. They was no entertainment available anywhere in the village in the evenings... More

Stayed here for three nights with extended family, grandparents, parents, and grandchildren. We had four rooms total. Absolutely fabulous hotel! Quintessential Austrian hotel in the quaint town of St Gilgen. We had an exceptional time, riding the cable car, renting electric boats, waterskiing, and a day-long boat excursion making stop at towns around the Wolfgangsee. We ate dinner here two... More

A warm welcome awaited us at the Gasthof Zur Post, where we stayed for a week. The refurbishment mentioned in an earlier review is now complete, with our room being well presented. All of the staff worked hard to make our stay welcoming, but they were often overworked when the restaurant was full, meaning that service sometimes slipped from leisurely... More

We have stayed at this hotel before and were impressed then. It has now been sympathetically extended and our room was a perfect mixture of modern and antique Austrian. It was also very large. We could have played volleyball in the ensuite, which had a large bath as well as a large separate shower cubicle The buffet breakfast was well... More
