Just returned from a wonderful stay in the Hollweger in St Gilgen. We had a second floor lake view/balcony room, from which the view is picture postcard type. Hotel is a five minute walk to town centre and five more to lakeside. Food was excellent. Staff were exceptional. The owner/manager operated with a wonderfully calm, friendly yet commanding style. Lots... More

This was our 6th summer visit to Austria booking through Inghams, and I don't think we've had a room with a better view than at the Hollweger. The room was also of a higher standard than at previous hotels, with a good balcony - we had upgraded to a Junior Suite, though. The hotel is reasonably well located, being a... More

We have just returned home after spending a week at this very nice hotel overlooking Wolfgangsee. We arrived late in the evening and were warmly welcomed by the English speaking reception staff. The dining room was due to close but we were offered a full meal which was excellent and very welcome after a day's traveling. Most meals were taken... More

This was our second visit to this Hotel. Whilst we enjoyed our first holiday the improvements made to the dinning room and the menu/quality of food make this a five star review. Our room overlooked the patio with excellent views of the lake and surrounding area. All of the staff were very approachable and helpful and the indoor pool is... More

A family run hotel. Outstanding quality of food. Attentive service. Pool and spa facilities are very good. If you're looking for a relaxing place to unwind it's just the ticket. If you're wanting late boozy nights not the place, but perfect for what we wanted. St Gilgen is a good base and convenient for transfers from Salzburg.

Send us by another hotel to them. They checked at the pensions (3 stars) we didn't have heat, the reception is close all night, if I had lucky that someone answer me at the phone but when I asked to solve the problem they tell me that is to late and shut down the phone. Next day when we asked... More

This is a lovely hotel if you book a lake view room, as most of the reviews here refer to. However, beware if you book a mountain view room, it is to the front of the hotel and overlooks a very main, noisy arterial road which runs from Bad Ischl to Salzburg. We had one of these such rooms, and... More

We spent a lovely week here and it was very comfortable and relaxing. The hotel is beautifully kept and very clean, and the outside area and gardens are lovely with a wonderful view down to the lake. The swimming pool area is also excellent with a very good-sized pool. Our room (the already referred to room 41!) was large and... More

The Hollweger in St Gilgen has stunning views over the lake if you take a room at the rear which we did, and has great facilities such as it's swimming pool and fitness room. The TV selection in our room even included a few English channels which was a bonus. It's about a 15-20 minute pleasant downhill stroll to the... More

St Gilgen is a lovely town on the edge of the lake, with easy opportunity to use the ferries, take a cable car or a train up a mountain, catch a bus to Salzburg (or elsewhere) or walk (long or short walks) on well signposted pathways. But the Hollweger Hotel adds the icing to the cake! Great friendly hotel with... More
