The Staff was very welcoming. The room was very cosy, nice and clean. The Location to the center is about 5 minutes walking. The breakfast, wow.. amazing, a lot of variety/quality. We could not have been happier to have chosen a better place, taking into consideration: price/quality/location.

This was the first stop on our cycle tour. The room was excellent, the decor modern, the breakfast was fine and the staff very helpful. The hotel is in the centre of town and our room had an enormous balcony giving a great view of the town.

Firstly, those who are 'thinking' of going to St. Gilgen, don't think - do visit St. Gilgen. I can tell you without prejudice that the afternoon we spent atop Zwolferhorn was our best afternoon in Austria. Salzkammergut is beyond beautiful! This hotel is located a stone's throw away from the Bus #150 bus stop and the base station for Zwolferhorn... More

We selected this property based upon other TA reviews and we were not disappointed. It started with an email response stating they wished to spoil us by staying there...and we were. We were warmly greeted by Frau Eisl upon our arrival and she, along with her family, took exceptional care of us through our entire 6 night stay. Their location... More

At first we planned going to Wolfgang-see. Due to there's the need to change to another bus at St Gilgen we decided to stay at the place instead as we had quite a few luggages. We had made the right choice of staying at this small cozy hotel. From the Salzburg bahnhoff we took the postbus #150 (at E6.5) and... More

St Gilgen, located in the Salzkammergut region, is very scenic with lakes & mountains, and for me, an urban city dweller, Austria brings back fond memories. For our return trip, we are again drawn back to St Gilgen, and Hotel Schernthaner remains our favourite place to stay. We last stayed at their apartment about 8 mins walk from the hotel.... More

Stayed one night in this hotel as our usual hotel was closed for pre-Easter vacation. I can throughly recommend this hotel to anyone. A very friendly reception from the owner who takes a real interest, very clean presentable rooms and wonderful breakfast. And not expensive! A lot of more expensive hotels in St Gilgen could learn a lot from this... More

Just back from visiting Christmas Markets in Germany and Austria. We stayed just 1 night at Hotel Schernthaner, but it was wonderful. We took the bus from a Salzburg, and it was less than a 5 minute walk from the bus stop. Markets were 1 minute from the hotel. Room was clean, large, quiet, and we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast.... St. Gilgen was our accomodation for two nights in mid-October. Hotel Garni Schernthaner exceeded our expectations in every way. Anneliese, the owner, was very understanding in reducung our rate due to a last-minute change in our reservation from 3 to 2 persons due to illness. She was charming and helpful in every way possibe. Our new room was wonderful, overlooking... More
