I realise it sounds like a negative, however when we booked our stay the B & B was run by the previous owner. My wife spoke to Mark to make the booking, so when we arrived we were a little disappointed that it had been sold. Having said that, the place is big, comfortable & unique, very different for someone... More

Probably the cleanest property I've ever stayed in. That's a biggee for me. Linda and Roger are delightful. Breakfasts made to order. Two drawbacks--you do have to climb to the second floor where the rooms are--no elevators. We can carry our bags. There may be some who cannot. Soap--when you're paying what we paid, liquid soap from the Dollar Store... More

Jake's is nestled in a draw about 1-1/2 outside of Custer City. The caretakers are very warm and courteous. Breakfast was excellent, one could stay and talk for hours or simply enjoy the meal and return to the quietness of the rooms or the beautiful porch. Definitely will stay there again if we are in the area.

Linda and Roger were great hosts during our 3 night stay at their B&B. Linda was especially gracious in fulfilling my wish for fresh chocolate chip cookies, and also preparing us an early breakfast one morning to meet our schedule. The house was big and beautiful and clean and spacious, and in a country setting that was secluded, yet close... More

This b&b is extremely well located, close to downtown but still in the middle of beautiful hills. The hosts are very kind and they cooked us a delicious breakfast (homemade pancakes, bacon, fresh fruits). From the b&b it's a short drive to mt. Rushmore (35min) and to the badlands national park (1h30). The room was large and clean. I can... More

This property is no longer being run by the man who built it and from the prior reviews I believe this is making a difference. The new caretaker does a great job of looking after this beautiful property. The room was spotless and well appointed and the B&B is nestled in the quietness of the gorgeous Black HIlls with a... We now serve fresh fruit (seasonal), no frozen hashbrowns (homemade) and offer beverages, handmade soaps along with more personal touches. I had just purchased Jake's when you stayed with us so I apologize for your disappointment, it means a lot to me to make your stay with us the best it can be. I feel that we can constantly improve... Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Jakes B&B. Quiet and secluded and facilities were excellent. Would be happy to stay again sometime. Hosts placed a box of chocolates on the pillow for our 30th anniversary.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Custer, Jake's B&B is it! We spent a week at Jake's and love every minute of it. The owner, Mark, has built an amazing place and his hospitality and food are second to none. The B&B is tucked away in the hills yet still only 2 minutes outside of Custer.... More

We spent 5 nights at this excellent B&B tucked into the Black Hills. Mark was a welcoming and attentive host. He has built a beautiful home that is perfect for an extended stay: comfortable bed, spacious room, ample storage space, good food, great shower, quiet setting. It was a real treat!

I am writing this review from Jakes master suite. My wife and I took a trip down to the Black Hills for our one year wedding Anniversery. We decided on Custer because of it's centralized location. I decided on Jakes because it looked like a pleasant place to stay, and that was an understatement. My wife and I arrived after... More
