We stayed in a cabin (#209) away from the main street. The lodge rooms may be less expensive but it's worth a few extra bucks for a cabin - nice porch to sit & relax outside, clean room with enough space, nothing frilly. We recommend the Sage Creek Grill for dinner, just down the street about 2 miles. Awesome. more

Two thumbs up, no doubt. This place was excellent, specifically for the price ($80ish w/tax per night). I'm afraid to write too great of a review because I dont want people catching on to what a great place this is and having it be booked the next time I want to head out there!! :) Very nice people running the... more

My title gives you a hint of my only real problem with the place. Location right on 16A there IS highway noise, esp. in the morning, but almost anything in Custer proper will have the same issue . Don't think anything can solve that problem. Now on to the review. This motel is now run by the custer resorts .... more

My wife and i stayed here on 9-12-09 for 4 nights in cabin 212. first the good stuff. the cabin had a fridge, micro, king size bed, fireplace, sitting area, bath with shower, covered porch, and an outdoor hot tub.the room came with soaps, coffie maker, hair dryer, and tv. the location was up on the hill and space apart from other cabins was good enough so you are not... more

Stayed for 3 nights in one of the cabins. Very clean and nicely appointed. Very happy that we chose to stay here and plan to come again. The staff is friendly and helpful - allowed us to switch to a different cabin that we liked better. The location is very close to Mt Rushmore and Custer State Park. Highly recommend... more

I travel to the Black Hills every year or so to visit my family. This year I decided to make more of a "vacation" out of it and stay in Custer for a few days. Rock Crest Lodge will be a place we return to again. The staff was extremely friendly. Fresh baked cookies on arrival - what a nice... more

the title says it all. The lodge was quiet, with a cabin feel; pines and cedars out back. A great and friendly staff (Pat and Dave). They were helpful with tips and very friendly. It's a very accomodating place to stay! more

My husband and I, along with our four children, stayed at Rock Crest Lodge for 4 nights in July 2009 and were very pleased. The motel rooms have been nicely renovated and were very clean (and I am pretty picky). This place almost feels more like a Bed and Breakfast because the owners/managers are so nice. They welcomed us warmly... more

We thought about staying in a cabin since the reviews were very good and the cabins sound as though they are new. In the end we went with a room in the "lodge". At first I was nervous after reading the reviews saying the rooms in the lodge were outdated. But the pictures on the Rock Crest website looked great.... more

We had a tough time deciding on a hotel or cabin, then opted for the cabin here at Rock Crest. There was something very appealing about them when we looked on the internet, and we thought for three days it would be nice to have kitchen facilities. We were not disappointed. We had a fabulous time here. Rock Crest is... more
