...and the guy at the counter has a real sense of humor! My sister, a friend and I stayed here overnight on a "tour" of South Dakota and would definitely go back. Comfortable, clean, well stocked (towels for 3). Didn't go to the pool as we kind of fell into bed after a day of driving to several monuments and... More

Nothing fancy, but definitely clean, great people, can't beat a breakfast for $1.99 or a slice of home made pie for the same. The beds were exceptionally comfortable! And even though the street in front is the main street - the room was very quiet. And the sweet little dog in the office named Lilly is a great greeter too.... More

We just returned from our motorcycle trip to the hills. We stayed here for 4 nights. We were greated by friendly people at the front desk and the cutest little dog. We opened the door to our room and we were greated with cleanliness. Nice room with pretty quilts on the bed. Everything was clean. You weren't afraid to sit... More

They provide exceptionally clean family accommodations. We had a two queen bed and a twin! We were comfortable with the cute matching quilts on our comfy beds. Please don't pass this place up, it doesn't matter if the lamps match or the wall hangings are a cohesive theme or if the furniture is the most contemporary. They have a great... More

We stayed at the Chief Motel and enjoyed the spacious clean room. We purchased the $1.99 breakfast each day and it filled us up so that we didn't have to stop for lunch. Because we stayed 3 days we got to use a Custer StatePark pass saving us $$. The motel was comfortable and provided a relaxed atmosphere. The owner... More

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights while visiting the area. The staff were friendly, the room was nice enough, but it seems the price is a little high (just like everything in this area). We didn't really have any complaints about this place and I'd be willing to stay here again.

We stayed in Custer for convenient access to the State Park. Though the rooms are rather small & spartan, they are clean and very comfy. The owners are very friendly and helpful, which is reflected in the discount coupons that they give out for breakfast and pie at a local restaurants. They also have a 25 cent soda machine -... More

Great clean motel that was very motorcycle friendly! A shelter for our bike was much appreciated during an unexpected hail storm. Clean bike rags and supplies provided daily. Discount for breakfast and pie at local places a great added bonus.

The room we had was on the small side and it was quite dark. The Chief Motel is an older property but it is reasonably well kept. Our room and the bathroom was clean. The is a pool but we didn't make use of it. There is no breakfast available, but they partner with a breakfast place nearby which gives... More

I booked the Chief Motel based on other reviews on TA. I wasn't disappointed. I was a solo traveler on a motorcycle, riding the Black Hills just days before the Sturgis Rally. I stayed here for two nights, one queen bedroom. The room was immaculately clean - floors, linens, bathroom. The room had a flat screen tv, mini fridge and... More
