Stayed at the Econo Lodge earlier this summer, very nice weekend. Major plus is its location right in downtown Custer but at a very affordable price. Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially at the front desk where they were able to suggest some nice places to visit. Kind of place you might miss but I'm glad I found it!!

Thank you for staying with us at the Econolodge of Custer and taking the time to comment on our hotel. It is great to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that our front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a great location in Custer, within walking distance to shops and eating and the museum. We hope... More

This rating may seem harsh, but sometimes circumstances may have you staying in, or even planning on staying in, a "two star" kind of place. It's doable, but there are or should be better options. Things got off to a bad start with initial room booking being with a central reservations company versus booking direct with the establishment; lesson learned... More

We do appreciate you staying with us while in Custer and taking the time to review our property. I apologize for the housekeeping issues that you faced. We take pride in our property and our clean rooms and facility, and having a room not up to standards is certainly unacceptable. Again I apologize and hope you will give us another... More

Hotel is downtown in the heart of custer sd. I booked this hotel expecting what i received. The rooms looked dated by the pictures. TV was upgraded in my room. Airconditioner is from the 1980's. The room stayed cool enough to enjoy the night. Breakfast was sufficient, choices for almost the whole family. Would have been nice to see some... More

We spent one quick night at this hotel and were very happy. Good price, clean room, right in the center of town. Beds were fairly comfy, pillows were tiny! Clean but small indoor pool, carb loaded but sufficient continental breakfast. Friendly staff. A 5 minute drive to the Crazy Horse Memorial.

Custer is a great small but bustling town. The Econo Lodge is on the main street. There are many restaurants and a grocery store within 2 blocks. We checked in at 9 p.m. and walked across the street to the Dairy Queen for a quick dinner. The room is very basic: we had a two bed room. There is not... More

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We certainly appreciate feedback and comments in order to make changes and to continue to improve our hotel and our service. It is certainly unacceptable that a housekeeper was knocking on your door that early in the am and I am very concerned that my front desk staff was not... More

We visited Custer in September, 2013, for the Buffalo round up. The lodge is an older property, but well maintained. Friendly staff and an above average breakfast. But the biggest plus is the location. We spent 3 nights and visited most of the local sites. It was a great "home base". Once "home", you can just park the car and... More

You're correct--we have a great location for anyone visiting the Black Hills. Many of the areas favorite tourist spots are closeby. And you can walk to almost any restaurant in town. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and our breakfast. More

We arrived in Custer before our reservations in the state park for the buffalo round up. There was so much we wanted to do we booked a room to do the things we wanted before the roundup. After having checked in I realized I needed another nite before we could check into the state park. Jean was very understanding. The... More

Nice stay in a friendly hotel at a very reasonable price. The rooms were clean and airy and close to Crazy Horse Memorial and Mount Rushmore. My room overlooked the car park but I never heard any noise from outside and I had a wonderful grandstand seat from my room to watch the mother of all thunder/lightening storms going on... More

Front desk staff was very accomodating in letting us check out several of the rooms to see them before we reserved one. Good price, walking distance to town, nice rustic decor, looks like the rooms were recently remodeled--except, the bed was uncomfortable and hard! I had taken a fall that morning, so it was really uncomfortable for my sore spots... More

The Econo Lodge in Custer S.D. was a pleasant stay. You are not going to get a 4 or 5 star hotel here but the lodge is clean and comfortable and very reasonable for the area. It is located in walking distance to all the attractions, restaurants, bars, museums and shops in town. The rooms are small but clean and... More
