We might have rated this hotel better at any other time than during the Sturgis rally. What a nightmare of a time to visit the Black hills and Custer. The room has weaknesses, no fridge and other services but if my ears were not ringing from the sound of motor bikes I might have noticed the western feel of the... More

We thank you for staying with us at the Econolodge in Custer. It can be noisy during Sturgis Motorcycle week. We take pride in our property and will use your comments and feedback to continue to improve our hotel. We hope you do come back and try the Econolodge again at a quiet time. We do hope you had a... We stayed here 3 nights and enjoyed how close it was to beautiful Custer State Park, Crazy horse monument and Mt. Rushmore. For the price this hotel was the ticket, but we missed having a microwave and small refrigerator in our room. The breakfast was as other reviewers have said very carb heavy. It would have been nice to have... More

We stayed here in late July 2014. The building is older but the rooms are nicely decorated. The staff is friendly and manager out front and present. They have small pool and a lounge area downstairs with a TV, books, puzzles, microwave and laundry room. When we stayed the rooms were pricey, my only negative. Breakfast was good. Convenient location.... More

Second night of our Western adventure. We originally booked this thinking we would drive to Mount Rushmore for the July 4th fireworks. However we had been sight seeing , and driving all day . So we decided to spend the evening in Custer. We walked all over town--which was cute and they had fireworks at dark. The hotel was a... More

Stayed at the Econo Lodge earlier this summer, very nice weekend. Major plus is its location right in downtown Custer but at a very affordable price. Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially at the front desk where they were able to suggest some nice places to visit. Kind of place you might miss but I'm glad I found it!!

This rating may seem harsh, but sometimes circumstances may have you staying in, or even planning on staying in, a "two star" kind of place. It's doable, but there are or should be better options. Things got off to a bad start with initial room booking being with a central reservations company versus booking direct with the establishment; lesson learned... More

Hotel is downtown in the heart of custer sd. I booked this hotel expecting what i received. The rooms looked dated by the pictures. TV was upgraded in my room. Airconditioner is from the 1980's. The room stayed cool enough to enjoy the night. Breakfast was sufficient, choices for almost the whole family. Would have been nice to see some... More

We spent one quick night at this hotel and were very happy. Good price, clean room, right in the center of town. Beds were fairly comfy, pillows were tiny! Clean but small indoor pool, carb loaded but sufficient continental breakfast. Friendly staff. A 5 minute drive to the Crazy Horse Memorial.

Custer is a great small but bustling town. The Econo Lodge is on the main street. There are many restaurants and a grocery store within 2 blocks. We checked in at 9 p.m. and walked across the street to the Dairy Queen for a quick dinner. The room is very basic: we had a two bed room. There is not... More

We visited Custer in September, 2013, for the Buffalo round up. The lodge is an older property, but well maintained. Friendly staff and an above average breakfast. But the biggest plus is the location. We spent 3 nights and visited most of the local sites. It was a great "home base". Once "home", you can just park the car and... More

You're correct--we have a great location for anyone visiting the Black Hills. Many of the areas favorite tourist spots are closeby. And you can walk to almost any restaurant in town. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and our breakfast. More
