We visited Custer in September, 2013, for the Buffalo round up. The lodge is an older property, but well maintained. Friendly staff and an above average breakfast. But the biggest plus is the location. We spent 3 nights and visited most of the local sites. It was a great "home base". Once "home", you can just park the car and... More

You're correct--we have a great location for anyone visiting the Black Hills. Many of the areas favorite tourist spots are closeby. And you can walk to almost any restaurant in town. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and our breakfast. More

We arrived in Custer before our reservations in the state park for the buffalo round up. There was so much we wanted to do we booked a room to do the things we wanted before the roundup. After having checked in I realized I needed another nite before we could check into the state park. Jean was very understanding. The... More

Nice stay in a friendly hotel at a very reasonable price. The rooms were clean and airy and close to Crazy Horse Memorial and Mount Rushmore. My room overlooked the car park but I never heard any noise from outside and I had a wonderful grandstand seat from my room to watch the mother of all thunder/lightening storms going on... More

Front desk staff was very accomodating in letting us check out several of the rooms to see them before we reserved one. Good price, walking distance to town, nice rustic decor, looks like the rooms were recently remodeled--except, the bed was uncomfortable and hard! I had taken a fall that morning, so it was really uncomfortable for my sore spots... More

The Econo Lodge in Custer S.D. was a pleasant stay. You are not going to get a 4 or 5 star hotel here but the lodge is clean and comfortable and very reasonable for the area. It is located in walking distance to all the attractions, restaurants, bars, museums and shops in town. The rooms are small but clean and... More

We really like the location of this hotel. It was near Custer Park, Crazy Horse memorial and Mt. Rushmore. The rooms were very clean and looked as if they had just been remodeled or updated with rustic furnishings. There were tables and chairs outside where we sat to unwind at the end of the day and just watch people. (You... More

Statyed for 2 nights. Room was clean and quiet, bed was comfortable. Short walking distance to downtown Custer. Front desk man was friendly and helpful. Short drive to Rushmore and Crazy Horse memorial. Would stay here again.

Good experience when we first checked in. The man at the front desk was friendly. We used the pool which my kids liked because it was only 4 ft deep. However the carpet around the pool could use some cleaning and so could the pool water. We found 2 hairball clumps in the pool. Our double queen room was kind... More

We were fortunate to get the last room available at this hotel as we took a side trip to Mount Rushmore and didn't realize is was the Sturgis Rally week! The desk was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and very quiet considering there were hundreds of bikers in town. The laundry facilities in the basement were... More

Room was also reserved to a family of 4 which created a mess for everyone; housekeeping failed to show up; party going on immediately behind the motel all night; billed my Visa for $596 for TWO NIGHTS. Do not stay at this motel - there are too many decent, responsible motels in town to fool with this one. I have... More

We tried to explain to this lady that there was a mix-up in the reservations. We gave her a 50% discount on her room which she accepted as a recompense for her inconvenience. The front desk was never notified of any "party" behind the motel. Otherwise we would have dealt with the situation. The "charges" she is referring to are... More
