We stayed 3 nights in the lodge. We had dinner in the restaurant the 1st night. It was empty because the food is terrible, Mac and cheese without cheese, a tough steak not properly cook, etc. Too bad they don't have a cook because the place is pretty and the staff was great. Breakfast was terrible too. Bring your food... More

My family and I did the chuck wagon hayride and dinner and I fell in love with it! Our wagon host was "Cowboy Keith" and he was a big part the experience was wonderful. I am certain the other wagon hosts are good as well, but Keith truly has a talent with story telling, and singing. The hayride through the... More

Great stay, excellent staff, and wonderful food! I suggest the larger Sleeping cabins with two queen beds. They come with a small kitchen and an indoor wood-burning fireplace. Also, outside is your own pinic table and fire pit. The room comes with a bundle of wood. This place is off the beaten path and very quiet. It is one of... More

We were travelling through Custer State Park the third week of May, which is a wonderful time to visit. There were no crowds and we felt like we had the park to ourselves! We stayed in a cabin at the Blue Bell Lodge and were very pleased. The cabin was spacious, very clean, and had a nice little front porch.... More

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. The Black Hills sure are beautiful and you are right that there is much more to see than just the park itself. We hope that you will stay with us again when you come back to the area. Take care and... More

During our 2 weeks camping at Custer State Park Blue Bell campground, we ate at the lodge several times. We ordered something different each time and were never disappointed. Try the Apple Crisp....it's incredible!! Jamie was there each time we went to eat and she was always so kind and considerate....made us feel so special. Diana, Allison, and Phil served... More

We enjoyed visiting Custer S.P. the last week of April, and spent 3 nights in one of the newer Housekeeping Cabins at Blue Bell Lodge. Our stay was great in all respects. Even though our first night was "opening night" for the season, our cabin was spic and span, with the heat turned on to welcome us. Beds were comfortable,... More

Thank you for your kind words. Blue Bell is a hot spot for wildlife and a very peaceful setting, we are glad that you felt so as well. I love the fireplaces in the cabins too, it makes for a pretty relaxing get away. We would love to have you back on your next visit, thank you again. More

We enjoyed our stay in the cabins at Blue Bell. It was a bit out of the way from Mt. Rushmore but I wanted to be near the stables for our ride and it was perfect for that. We had a two bedroom cabin that was older style but perfectly fine for us. They are sort of like older hotel... More

Thank you for your review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay here at Blue Bell. The cabin you stayed in was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps to be used as their dorm rooms while they worked in the Black Hills area. It does have more of the rustic feel than some of the... More

The cabins vary in age, construction, size, and location, so if you have particular wishes, it's worth a call to make the reservation. The website is not that helpful. Anna is helpful, though. (Also, the resort website touts the cabins' firepits, but there is currently a fire ban.) We wanted to be able to cook, so we rented a cabin... More

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Custer Park. The cabin you stayed in is rather old. It was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps to be used as their dorm rooms while they worked in the Black Hills area. We have updated them periuodically and they are due for another update! I suggest you ask for a... More

The website descriptions of the cabin and the chuckwagon dinner/ haywagon ride set my expectations too high. The pictures of the cabins are for the newer two bed cabins and the larger housekeeping cabins were not up to the same standards. The cabin was not bad but I was disappointed. The haywagon rides were pulled by trucks and that turned... More

My wife and I just returned from three fantastic nights at the Blue Bell Lodge in Custer State Park.
