Lodge is located near the top of some of the most picturesque rocky mountains in the area. The lodge is the beautiful old type construction common to lodges, like in Yellowstone & other national parks. Very good food, upscale lodge, casual dress, (food was a little pricey but good and worth the views). We had an elk dish-very good, two... More

We were here to attend a wedding and had booked and paid in advance. We were extremely disappointed when we saw the size of our room. There was no closet for place to hang anything nor was there a dresser. We had to walk around our luggage to get around the room as there was nowhere to store it. The... More

Stayed in one of the lodge rooms on a girlfriend trip. We had a balcony, it didn't overlook the lake but it did give us a nice view of the morning sunrise and some needle type rocks. It was nice to sit out there with a nice cup of coffee or hot chocolate and enjoy nature. When we got to... More

You can't find a prettier place to stay. I stayed in the main lodge and the room was fine, the bed comfy, and the furnishings worn a bit too much. But the food was great, and the scenery about as perfect as it gets. The lobby area is authentic old west. I see the rather high rates as a scenery... More

Stayed in cabin 502 with our German shepherd dog. Cabin was cozy and ABSOLUTELY LOVED being in walking distance to a beautiful and scenic lake, with great hiking trails (i.e. Harney Peak) so close! Bed in cabin was ok, bathroom layout worked well. Nice fluffy and fresh towels every day, there were only two club chairs by the table, so... More

We stayed in the renovated part of the lodge. The room was very nicely decorated and quite upscale. But the tub and shower had not been updated and was old. For over $200 a night we expected better and not plastic and paper water and coffee cups. There is only a partial view of the lake and it is a... More

We arrived expecting this to be the one of the better Hotels on our trip. We were given a first floor room. Walking in in the middle of the afternoon we needed the lights on as it was so dark, the lights made little difference as the power of the bulbs was so low. Opened the curtains trees just two... We rented a housekeeping cabin by the lake. We were disappointed in the interior of the cabin. The bed was small, sort of lumpy, and seemed to lean to one side. The "kitchen" area consisted of a 2 or 3 burner stove, sink fridge and microwave. The utensils, pots and pans, etc., were few and far between-the hotel does not... More

We have stayed in rustic lodges before, so I thought I knew what to expect at Sylvan Lodge. We stayed in the older part of the hotel on the first floor. Horrible odor in the hallway -- smelled like cooked cabbage. Our room was small, but I expected that. There were long blond hairs on the one bedspread and a... More

We booked this lodge so that we could be right in Custer State Park for the Buffalo Roundup. We had small kiddoes, and we booked two rooms. Our room was very nice. The lodge is a bit dated, but our double queen room was big, very nice and comforable. However, do not open the windows - the screens have big... More
