Service was ok. Food was over priced. Stayed in a cabin near the lake which was nice but very bare minimum ammenities. The view and lake were amazing but better off saving money and staying outside the park on the north side and drive the 20 minutes to the lake. Not missing much by not staying at the lodge. more

I'd like to start by saying the park is beautiful, but don't bother staying in the lodging. I contacted Sylvan Lake Lodge a month in advance saying I'd like to book a room and was part of a wedding being held at their location. I asked for a room near the auditorium where the reception would be. I was told... more

The views and surrounding area are amongst the most gorgeous you will ever find! We were SO excited to take our friends and their kids here for a stay, a total of 4 adults and 5 kids aged 5 and under. However, due to "overbooking" on THEIR part, we were told after driving 2 1/2 hours that we'd have to... more

Unfortunately we were able to stay only one night at Sylvan Lake but had the "honeymoon cabin" - beautifully renovated with a lovely view of the mountains. It has a very private location and we were able to enjoy a fire while the sun was setting. The cabin was within easy walking distance of the lodge where we had a... more

We stayed at the Lodge for 2 nights with the purpose of hiking Harney Peak, the highest peak east of the Rockies. The Lodge is reminiscent of a national park lodge . It was designed by Frank LLoyd Wright & built in the 30s. The Lodge has a memorable commons area adjacent to the front desk and the restaurant, with... more

We thought we'd booked a cabin but actually had booked the lodge, which was great. The rooms though a bit dated were excellent. Our room was very large in size which comes in handy as our little toddlers are now teenagers and need more space. We couldn't afford to eat at the restaurant but we were on the run most... more

We had originally reserved a room at the "lodge" but after discovering it wasn't actually near the lake and would involve a short drive to the lake, we asked to be moved to the cabins. The staff was happy to accomodate our request. The cabin we rented was modern and comfortable with a small kitchen. (Had been refurbished in 2008)... more

My family took a vacation through the Black Hills of South Dakota and decided to stay at the Slyvan Lodge for two nights.....thankfully that was all we had to stay there! Let me preface this review by saying that I don't have 5 star expectations, I am a very basic traveller. First the dinner at the lodge. This is supposed... more

We stayed for four days. The bath tub and sink were never cleaned. The waste basket was never emptied. We complained to front desk, nothing was done. more

The lodge is ok but a bit worn. Our room was a good size with a balcony but I could see that other rooms were very small. The lodge needs some renovating and updating. more
