After 5 days in Xanterra lodging in Yellowstone, we took a "break" by spending a night in this beautiful spot, and we are so glad we did! Unlike Xanterra, who seems truly ignorant of what lodging in this price range should be, the management here knows very well indeed! We heeded the advice of others who posted here on Trip... More

The rooms are small and old, but maintained well. We had a pretty view of Sylvan Lake from our room. That being said, not much time was spent in our room anyway... the surroundings are so beautiful and peaceful you do not want to go inside! Hike up to the top of the high rocks right beside the lodge to... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in a 2 queen bed cabin near the lake. Very quiet here except on Saturday night when there was a wedding party. Good thing earplugs worked. There was a 2 burner stove, microwave, coffee maker, small fridge, and hair dryer. Soap and samples of shampoo and conditioner were included. Fire pit with grill but no... More

What isn't to love about the drive up to this lodge. It's a spectacular drive whichever direction you come in from. We ate here the weekend after Labor Day and were a bit nervous if the lodge would be open for dinner. Not to worry. The lodge is open until October. While we were seated next to a window there... We stayed here for three nights in late August. We had a newly renovated room in the lodge, which was nice, but basic. We had a balcony, but only a view of a tree and pole. I had asked if we could have a room with a view but was told there weren't any available , even though the lodge... More

My husband and I along with our lab stayed in one of the cabins for two nights. We were able to get one of the cabins with a lake view and only minutes away from the lake itself, so the location was great! The cabins are small but kept pretty clean and have the basic kitchenette setup. The bed wasn't... More

We had a wonderful, electronically unconnected family vacation at the Sylvan Lake Lodge cabins. The staff were very friendly, the sights were breathtaking beautiful, the cabins were small, rustic, but clean and nice. We didn't stay in the sleeper cabins (we stayed in another section, ? the name). We stayed in cabin 502 and were very pleased. The cabinets had... More

We stayed in the Sylvan Lake Lodge cabins for 4 nights. The cabins were a bit old and pretty basic but that is what we expected from a state park cabin. We had previously stayed in cabins in Yellowstone National Park and these were comparable. We found the cabin to be comfortable and was exactly what we needed. The cabin... More

We checked into our cabin after a long drive from Denver and the cabin looked pretty decent from the outside. The room was a decent size with 2 Queen Beds. The bathroom was small for the 4 of us, hard to move around. As a Mom, I am particular about cleanliness, and the room and the bathroom wasn't very clean.... More

This was our favorite hotel of the week-long trip to North and South Dakota. It was a winding, picturesque drive up to the hotel (there is a less vertigo-inducing route up Rt89). Once there, we were treated to a view of the spires and the lake below. It was during the Perseoid Meteor shower and the skies were perfectly dark.... More
