We stayed for 4 nights in The Eisenhower room- it was a great experience all around. The room was clean and comfortable, and the old lobby/front porch were very welcoming and relaxing. The food was excellent, and it seemed reasonably priced to us. Don't miss the breakfast buffet! The best aspect of the lodge was its proximity to the wildlife... More

We stayed for one night and it was perfect for our needs. The bed was very comfortable and soft. It was very quiet. I can see drawbacks for some. Our room was T shaped with single beds the top of the T. You could see the TV from one bed and little room for another to watch. The other bed... More

These cabins are away from the main road in a nice location within the park nestled amongst pine trees. Cabin with two double beds is small but adequate for the amount of time needed. Air conditioned and tv. Bedspreads and curtains look a bit tired. Met our needs especially to be able to stay in the park.

We recently stayed in the Eisenhower room in the State Game Lodge. The accommodations, the service, the proximity to park attractions and the food in the lodge were all great. The park itself offers abundant opportunities to hike, view wildlife and beautiful scenery.

We love staying in historic national/state park lodges and are very forgiving about the imperfections that can come with old buildings; after all, you're staying there for the history and natural environment, not for luxury. Even so, we were really disappointed in our stay at the State Game Lodge this week. The lack of historical continuity in the lodge is... More

I did not stay at the State Game Lodge or anywhere else in Custer State Park but I did want to add my own thoughts to the other recent review of the Wacipi Show held there on Thursday nights this summer. First of all, the State Game Lodge building looked beautiful when we drove up! We walked into the lobby... More

The Woyatan Wacipi Drum and Dance Group is a local group who wants to share there culture with the public. As you said this is definetly not a hollywood, but aa real life Native Americans sharing their cultural experience. This is the experience you would encounter at any PowWow in the Black Hills.I apologize that this event did not live... More

Had a disappointing stay at the State Game Lodge. Cabin had 2 double beds that were so old they dipped in the middle. Beds were never made correctly that the sheets stayed on the bed. 2 out of the four lights in the cabin didn't work. Very small quarters - it's really not big enough for 4 guests. Location was... Thank you for taking the time to write this review. The beds all have been replaced within the last four years and only get a few months of use each year but I do have them scheduled to be replaced starting next year. Finding the right bed reminds me of the fairytale story of "Goldielocks and the 3 Bears." One... More

Positives: Beautiful setting. Do the Lovers Leap hike, it was great. Lodge is very cool and the breakfast buffet was very good and reasonable as it included your drinks. Kids went swimming in the tiny little watering hole by the camp ground, but had fun. Our cabin was fair but could have used a good cleaning. Negatives: We stayed in... More

We stayed in a "small sleeping cabin" at the State Game Lodge. The interior of the cabin was very clean and updated. It had new tile, new carpet, beautiful artwork, a table and chairs, a totally updated bathroom with large, fluffy, soft towels. The cabin had a front porch with 2 chairs and it overlooked a small waterfall and creek.... More

From the minute you enter the lodge grounds, you know it's a beautiful place. But the food and room quality were the same standards. I actually stopped back at the Lodge restaurant to get the exact same meal I had the night before- it was that good. I stayed in all of the places- the cabins (were a little dirty),... More
