Very interesting, enjoyable and informative 2.5 hr ride. Amazing views of the lake, beautiful wooded trail, many Mayan sites and monkeys. Better than a trip to Tikal. Horses well looked after and staff excellent. Owner has a passion for horses and environent. Best day out in my 3 mths in Guate.

My friend and I stayed at Palomino Ranch for 3 nights in February 2015 . We loved it, the horses are beautiful and very well cared for . The rooms I thought were unique, clean , and spacious , decorated very tastefully with antiques . The staff were fabulous and patient, english is not spoken but we managed well with... More

The best part of all was the staff! All of them were so helpful, friendly and professional. The girls made us feel so at home and Senor Diaz was a fantastic horseback riding guide. He took us on trails past Mayan tombs nearby and to beautiful vista locations with incredible panoramic views. The ranch is in walking distance to several... More

This place was pretty unpleasant. I can see in the past that it may have been nice but sadly for them the last two years have been very wet so the lake is much higher. This will be the case for at least a couple of years now. The effect on this hotel has been sad. It's now a swamp... More

Unique hotel. It is really charming! The owner collects antiques and use them as decoration. The room is spacious and cosy. The only thing we did not like was the bathroom: the hot water was not constant and the shower drain did not work well. The staff was very nice and helpful. It is in front of Lake Petén Itzá... We stayed at The Palomino Ranch Hotel, although the staff didn't speak much English they were so patient with my little Spanish. They still helped us arrange transfers, day trip to Tikal, horse riding in the jungle where you come across Mayan ruins and can hear howler monkeys. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. The horses are well... More

Unfortunately we found out about this place after we were already book in a much more expensive and out of the way place. However we did visit the hotel to do some horseback riding. The horses are the best we've come across in Guatemala and we've been riding in several places. My kids enjoyed it so much they returned again.... More

We arrived around 8AM at the hotel, were met by two smiling staff members as we got out of the car and whisked right up to a room, without even being put through the normal registration paperwork. When I asked about it later, they told me to come fill out a registration card whenever I was ready. There was a... More

We stayed here for 4 days and were treated like royalty. We took an exciting horseback jungle tour with Otto, who was a very patient and attentive guide. The staff at the hotel went above and beyond to accommodate all of our needs (they even did our personal laundry before we moved on without charge). To sum it up, it... More

I stayed here for a month and in that time I checked nearly every hotel/hostel in town and this is by far the best deal in town. Air conditioning, hot water with great preasure, beautiful swimming pool, good food, great service...I didn't want to leave. The owner has taken attention to detail. An added bonus was the beautiful horse show... More
