Park View is a wonderful old house that has been updated to fit the needs of the modern traveler. Wonderful bathroom with great shower, antique bed - with good mattress, free wifi, and a great breakfast bar - hot egg dish every morning, as well as fresh fruit, cereal, variety of bread products, orange juice, proteins of bacon, andouille sausage,... We stay at the park view twice a year...spring and fall. It is clean, staff is friendly and helpful, food is always available, and location is perfect on the street car line, next to Audubon Park, and close to the colleges. This place never disappoints. We are fussy...we travel often and have quite a few places to compare this too.... More

Park View is a beautiful Victorian inn conveniently located right on the Charles St trolley line. The area is nice and quiet, but easily accessible to downtown. The inn is lovely and welcoming, with little touches like cookies in the afternoon and sherry out for guests in the evening. Our first floor room was very comfortable with an elegant canopy... More

Had a great time staying at the Park View. It is a beautiful mansion with great character located adjacent to the Audobon Park and Zoo and across from Tulane University. The street car stops right out front and it is easy to get a cab or Uber. There Guest House serves a lovely southern breakfast and has snacks (and wine!)... More

Spent a weekend celebrating an 80th birthday for a friend at the Park View where we rented the whole guest house. Rooms were (and still are) filled with massive, mahogany four-poster beds and antiques evoking a very gracious time in history. Updated with the modern amenities we've all come to expect: lovely bathrooms, WiFi, flat screen TVs. Staff could not... More

This hotel has been in business since 1884; but, only the style of construction and the decor gives the impression it is that old. The bathrooms are modern with the combined finishes and construction of 1880s and modern fixtures and amenities. The wood work, doors, and walls show their maintained age; but, not as a distraction. They show well maintained... More

My husband and I had our staycation here at Park View Guest House. We loved everything about it. Ambience is breathtaking. The moment we walked in the front door, we felt like we were out of town. It was so warm and welcoming. It felt like home. The staff so helpful and accommodating in anything we needed. The snacks, cookies... More

This was the second time I stayed here and I had a wonderful stay. I had a beautiful room on the first floor which I appreciated so I didn't have to carry my luggage upstairs. I also had a desk in my room and they had put in a good desk chair as I had told them I wanted to... More

We changed directions and they were able to accommodate us last minute. The house is in a beautiful area of town on a mansion lined street. It is right next to a park, but to call it that is an understatement. Acres of huge 150 year old trees, grass, water features and playground for the kids. The house is immaculate... More

We stayed here for four nights during Mardi Gras and had a lovely time. We had a huge room and the accommodation was like being at home, Food and staff were great. The area is close to the parks and easy to walk to a lot of the processions . Hope to return again soon

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
