We just had the pleasure of a 5 night stay at St James with friends and will no doubt look forward to staying there again the next time we find ourselves in New Orleans. The hotel itself is very pretty and is decorated tastefully. There is a courtyard between the reception and the rest of the rooms that would be... More

Pros: Convenient location, affordable, comfortable bed, clean. Cons: Poor security, small windowless room, tiny bathroom with broken shower head, no water one night for 8 hrs. I really wasn't thrilled with this hotel and don't think I'll be returning, that said it might work out for someone traveling alone and looking to save money.

The Hotel is undergoing renovations and will probably be great when completed but we were misinformed when making our reservation that the renovations were in the lobby only. The rooms have been completed so were new and clean but they started on the hallways when we were there which was disruptive. They plan to have the rugs in the hallways... More

Beautiful hotel .. very pleasant staff especially Machiel.... We had to give you a shout out from your new South Carolina family.. our room was 122 with French doors that opened to a beautiful floor garden . MACHIEL deserves a raise.

We stayed three nights in March to see our daughter at Tulane. The St James is a cozy, comfortable place in a convenient location. The rooms are small but pleasant and well equipped (all the standard amenities- big screen tv, safe, fridge.) The staff is friendly, polite and helpful. We took the complimentary breakfast (croissant, jelly, coffee, juice) in the... More

Stayed for a week last week. Bed was comfortable and tv had hd channels. It is an older hotel so you can hear traffic if you have a room on the street. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Front staff Burton, Jon, Ariel and Michelle are to be commended for excellent customer service. The hotel is walking distance to... More

I just returned from a business trip where I stayed at the St James for 5 nights and was fairly pleased with my stay. I had done some reading here on TripAdvisor prior to my trip so when I checked in, I asked for a room that was higher up and overlooked the courtyard. They assigned me room 419 located in... More

I recently stayed at the St James hotel for 3 nights on a business trip to NOLA. The location is terrific, the rate hard to beat and the room was definitely comfortable and adequate. What was most impressive was the front desk staff. Michelle checked in a colleague and me in and anticipated our every question. She is kind, courteous... More

Stayed at the St James Hotel for a week in April. There was a bit of renovating going on, but I was very happy with my stay. The room on the fourth floor of the Magazine building was very nice, and much larger than I expected. Beds were very comfortable. No restaurant or bar on the grounds, but the Chophouse... More

Very well appointed room with floor to ceiling drapes, very comfortable king bed, very clean bathroom. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. This hotel is two blocks from French Quarters and half the price of hotels within French Quarters. Valet parking was a bit expensive but it's like that in all of New Orleans. Hotel is going through some... More
