Stayed in Lamothe House for three nights at the beginning of August. We checked in to a room across the street behind the property. Although this was not in the lovely and historic main building it wasn't too much of a problem. We were able to check in late and the staff were friendly and courteous. Despite being a bit... More

Boutique hotel in French Quarter. Nice but ordinary furnishings. Good comfortable beds. Kuerig coffee maker and Aveda bath products are nice touch. Good thing I had my hotspot with me because the Wi-Fi access didn't work. Originally put us in a windowless room across the back street from the hotel.. Specifically chose this hotel because they didn't say anything about... More

The location is Just Right, the room was JUst Right, the pool was Just Right and the service was Super Just Right. If your looking for a small, boutique hotel, in the French Quarter - this is your place. Quiet, comfortable and So VERY New Orleans. Walked for coffee every morning, and dinner & French Quarter fun every night. Perfection!!!

The staff here is extraordinarily friendly and the character of the hotel is incredible! The hotel has the old charm of New Orleans with the comforts of a modern hotel with wifi, keurig coffee makers in each room, modern looking bathrooms and decor. We will continue to visit here on future trips to New Orleans. DeAun was very helpful and... More

The house is 170 years old just keep that in mind. If you want luxury & no city noise this may not be the place for you but if you want to experience NOLA, truly experience it this is the place! Beds and shower are great, but the character of this hotel has ruined me. I'll never stay at a... More

It sounds like the Lamothe House was exactly what you were looking for in a hotel in New Orleans. Our French Quarter Guest Houses properties are definitely a departure from the white wall rooms you'll find in the larger chain hotels in the city and we are thrilled to hear that we've made a believer (and repeat guest) out of... I've stayed at a number of hotels in the quarter, the quality of which runs the gamut. While Lamothe House is by no means a luxury hotel (nor does it purport to be), I absolutely loved it. I arrived before check-in, but was able to get into my room anyhow. I didn't realize that some of the rooms are located... More

This was my and my husbands first trip to New Orleans and was planned completely online. Never having been to the area and not knowing what to expect, i depended on Tripadvisor. The reviews really helped me decide what was best for our stay. The LaMothe House at first sight I was kinda skeptical. But once inside I was so... More

My husband and I had an amazing anniversary in NOLA and staying at the Lamothe house was a great choice. It's close to the quarter but make sure you pack comfy shoes if you plan on hitting bourbon street at night or going to Harrahs. The hotel was quaint and had that southern charm you can't get where I from.... More

We just love the title, "Secret Garden", that you used to describe your recent stay with us! We like to hope that the Lamothe House serves as a relaxing slice of heaven for all of our guests, being within walking distance of all of the action while far enough away to find a quiet moment to relax. I choose this place as I just love it. Something about it just has a good feel. It is old and so much character. The stairs may not be even but that is part of the charm If I can't stay here, I don't go to New Orleans.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in the ancient oaks of Esplanade Avenue, the ornate architectural detail of the past meets modern comfort and convenience in our restoration of the historic Lamothe House hotel. Featuring an elaborate courtyard accented by mature landscaping, a garden pond, and a refreshing pool, peace and relaxation are just steps away from the thrill the Crescent City has to offer. In addition to 30 guest rooms refinished in traditional style, five Grand Antique Suites have been preserved from the original 1839 construction of the home of Jean Lamothe, a wealthy sugar cane planter of French descent. Furnished with antique furniture & artwork, the detail and charm that exemplifies old New Orleans is accessible to today’s traveler. Not to be overlooked is the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood the Lamothe House calls home. Here visitors will find Frenchmen Street, often referred to as “the local’s Bourbon Street”, which features some of the best local music and cuisine found in the French Quarter.Whether it’s your first or your next visit to the Big Easy, find the authentic New Orleans experience you are searching for at the Lamothe House. ... more   less
