Our room was a nice surprise- it was a two bedroom with a sitting area. Having a seperate bedroom- with a door- was wonderful. But, we were on the third floor- and there were no elevators. Carrying heavy suitcases up and down the stairs was not fun. Or even just coming back from a busy, exhausting day- and having to... More

There are lots of options in New Orleans and I would pick somewhere else. This place is not clean or well kept. I wish we would have stayed somewhere else. There are separate rooms from the main building which do not seem secure at all. I am suprised we didn't get stuff taken. Go elsewhere!

This hotel has been recently updated. The location is good if you like live music. Since the building is old and some say haunted, it has that old time New Orleans feel. I have stayed there many times and will stay again. It is priced appropriately. If it goes up, I would look elsewhere.

Charming, but lacking the advantages of a full service hotel. Our room was in a separate, freestanding building and not the secured main building. Our room, while a king sized, was small for two people, and the bathroom very small. On the positive side, the furniture was nice, and the bed was very comfortable with nice linens. Parking was an... I had an amazing stay at Lamothe House Hotel over the July 4, 2014 weekend for many reasons but before I go on and on about the features of the hotel let me just say that the highlight of my stay at this hotel truly was Christopher (Chris), the Front Desk Concierge! Chris truly loves his job and it shows!... More

I am apprehensive to post a review this good for fear I may not be able to book this hotel again (either because it is full, or the prices are raised), and it is the only place I ever want to stay in New Orleans. The staff was amazing, the room sizable and very clean, and the location (on the... More

I just got back on Sunday night from staying 3 nights at the Lamothe House. I was there for my bachlorette party with a bunch of girlfriends. I wouldn't have changed a thing. From Christopher in the day, to Harlan at night, everyone was so accommodating and sweet. I highly recommend rooms 101 and 102, they were huge and spacious... More

The Lamothe House is a wonderful hotel just outside of some of the busiest areas of the French Quarter, and helped make a fantastic trip to New Orleans even better. Rooms were clean and air conditioned, beds were comfortable, and building itself is within walking distance to both the French Quarter as well as Frenchman Street. It also features a... More

This is the best place to stay. It's quite, right beside Frenchman street and 2 streets down from Burbon street. Also very close to a street car and the French market. The staff was vey nice and they have a great pool.

A beautiful collection of rooms and gardens that provide a nice quiet escape from the French Quarter with secure, card-access parking for your vehicle. Located within walking distance of everything. The very well kept rooms are air-conditioned and located around a pool and hot tub (closed for cleaning/maintenance when I was there). Plenty of atmosphere in this old house with... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in the ancient oaks of Esplanade Avenue, the ornate architectural detail of the past meets modern comfort and convenience in our restoration of the historic Lamothe House hotel. Featuring an elaborate courtyard accented by mature landscaping, a garden pond, and a refreshing pool, peace and relaxation are just steps away from the thrill the Crescent City has to offer. In addition to 30 guest rooms refinished in traditional style, five Grand Antique Suites have been preserved from the original 1839 construction of the home of Jean Lamothe, a wealthy sugar cane planter of French descent. Furnished with antique furniture & artwork, the detail and charm that exemplifies old New Orleans is accessible to today’s traveler. Not to be overlooked is the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood the Lamothe House calls home. Here visitors will find Frenchmen Street, often referred to as “the local’s Bourbon Street”, which features some of the best local music and cuisine found in the French Quarter.Whether it’s your first or your next visit to the Big Easy, find the authentic New Orleans experience you are searching for at the Lamothe House. ... more   less
