we wanted something traditional, dark and slightly 'American horror story coven' for our visit...and we were just so delighted to find this hotel. if you stay in the main part of the hotel, built in 1830, the stairs creak, the rooms are filled with period, dark wood furniture, and I slept in a four poster bed which was so high... My girlfriends and I recently stayed at the Lamothe House Hotel. We wanted a hotel that was safe and clean but wasn't a "typical" run of the mill hotel. The Lamothe House was just that. It had all the typical accommodations of a hotel that allowed us to travel comfortably and safely but it had a unique charm that made... More

The hotel is located within the French Quarter. Two blocks away from Bourbon St. It has a private lot for $20 a day on the back side of the property. I'm not sure what our problem was but we drove around for a good 30 minutes trying to get to it with all the one way streets and map that... More

staff very friendly; hotel quaint and full of charm and ideally located for my purposes; i stayed in room 103 which was adequate, but the bathroom is tiny and it is very difficult to actually get to the toilet... in addition, there is no flat surface in the bathroom on which to put anything, making the use of it for... This hotel carries many colorful and traditional styles externally and internally. My room was outside the garden near the fountain and pool. It was so cute and quaint, it felt like home. My room may have been small, but it was perfect for me. I love the wood floor walking up the steps to check in. The receptionist was very... More

The guest house is located at the very edge of French Quarter, between Royal and Chartres streets and right next to Frenchmen. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were small but very clean and well maintained. The building is old, looks rickety, and has no elevators. The street that the guest house is on is not... More

I found Lamothe House online and booked it for the location and price. It turned out to be a great find. On the west edge of the Quarter, it's next to Frenchman's Street where most of the music has moved from Bourbon. Right around the corner from the French Market, Cafe du Monde and Jackson Square, it was an easy... More

You have to temporarily park outside the hotel and check in. They will issue you a key to unlock the gate around the color to park your car for $20 per night. However, it's a quick walk to the back gate which led me to my room. It's not near the French Quarter, but it's in walking distance. I didn't... More

I haven't been to New Orleans for over 20 years. I first went when I was on college break in 1983 and had the great opportunity to stay at the original Lamothe House. At that time it was just the 1 main building with the rooms surrounding the courtyard. I stayed in a small, but comfortably furnished, room with lots of... More

I stayed in the Separate house (rear quarters) of the Lamothe which are technically right across Kerlerec St. Just around the corner from many of the music clubs on Frenchman; yet somehow buffered and noise was not an issue at all. I stay in a different spot every year for Jazz Fest and this may have been my favorite. Cleaning... More
