My boyfriend and I just returned from a 4 night stay at International House. We stayed on the 11th floor in one of the windowless rooms, which I was a little unsure about when we first booked. However, it turned out to be great! So nice and quiet and peaceful - so easy to rest after those long New Orleans... More

We were here for a week long conference. Always enjoy being in New Orleans. Location here is ideal for a business visit. Close to the French quarter but also the business area and conference center. There are also loads of good restaurants nearby. I thought the rooms were just ok - a little on the Spartan side and some folks... More

The location of this hotel was perfect for our first trip to New Orleans, with easy walking distance to everything, but tucked away from the throngs of tourists. The staff was helpful when asked, but not super friendly. The decor was hip and different, and rooms comfortable. The fun bar was a bonus, with unique and tasty, but somewhat pricey... More

We had a beautiful corner room with a giant king sized bed. The room was beautifully furnished with an elegant chandelier and giant comfy reading chair. The shower was large and I loved the Aveda toiletries. The free Wifi was easy to access and quite powerful. The free breakfast wasn't much...just bananas, apples and granola bars, but it was free.... This hotel has everything I prize in a travel property: great location, fabulous staff, lovely furnishings and, wait for it: a killer bar on premise. My BFF and I met here for LONG BIRTHDAY WEEKEND and had a blast. IH is off the French Quarter (a MUST for me) and did I mention the LOA Bar? Best value for a... More

This hotel was recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. It's a beautiful, grand old building but updated with modern furnishings and amenities. Somehow it exudes cool glamour while remaining comfortable and cozy. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet with much appreciated blackout curtains. I did not mind going downstairs for coffee and breakfast in the morning as... More

We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate our engagement. Upon arrival, we were sent up to a tiny room on where you could hear loud noises from the street. We asked to be moved to a larger room but they didn't have one without upgrade fees. We were only given the option to move to another small room... More

Thank you so much for your comments and for selecting us for your engagement trip. We are in the process of changing all of our mattresses so I know you will not be disappointed on your return visit. I am honestly at a loss regarding the bug that was in your room. Orkin is on property every 2 weeks and... More

We had a great experience in New Orleans and enjoyed our stay at the International House. Great location and room with beautiful decor as well as polite and helpful staff. In particular, Bradley and Chase at the front desk were very professional, informative and helpful throughout our stay. We're looking forward to a return visit.

Recently my wife and I visited New Orleans and stayed at the international house. From the moment we arrived it was amazing. The staff was very helpful and check in was easy. We stayed in the panoramic king suite. I wish I could have taken the bed with me! Even the coffee in the lobby was awesome so there was... More

This was my second stay at International House, with the first being in summer of 2011. Each time I stayed in a queen room with a window. (I cannot imagine sleeping in a room with no window, but that is simply a personal feeling.) The room is small, with room for the bed, small bedside tables on each side, and... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
