Thank you Kevin for a wonderful stay. I can only steal the words from Maraberto1 who covered it, just to add that the breakfast was also great. Algiers Point and it's neighborhood restaurants and pub were an unexpected surprise. And the ferry ride across the muddy Mississippi was a magical threshold. Can't believe I used "magical" but, there you go...

We spent 3 nights at this lovely B&B. The bed was comfortable, the shower was very good and the house was very quiet. The location was sensational. Algiers Point is only a short ferry away from the main attractions in New Orleans. By staying at this B&B, you are not only close to everything, but you can also enjoy a... More

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the House of the Rising Sun - our room with ensuite bathroom was very cozy, and our breakfast was delicious. Nestled amongst pretty historic homes, this B&B is a short walk to the ferry. (Ferry takes exact change and only accepts cash.) Kevin was an exceptional host, with a wealth of knowledge... More

Kevin is quick to address any issues with a simple request! We found it a bit chilly being used to warmer weather, and after an inquiry, he made our room warm and cozy the rest of the stay! Excellent location near the French Quarter but still far enough away to avoid the noise and rowdiness. House was originally a "Shotgun... More

Great place, owners, dog, and quiet location in a neighborhood a little away from the French Quarter noise and panic -- but close enough either by ferry or cab to get into or find some adventure. Neighborhood is worth a tour.

Not only is this B&B one of the most comfortable, competitively priced and well located you will find in NOLA but the house and the hosts exude the culture of New Orleans. Kevin and Wendy are the quintessential hosts. As a native of New Orleans I enjoy return visits and it is a stay at Kevin & Wendy's place that... More

Spending the night with the House of the Rising Sun Bed and Breakfast was a great experience. Not only were the accommodations really good, but we also enjoyed a great breakfast and wonderful hospitality from the owners, Kevin and Wendy. Look forward to staying with them again the next time we are in New Orleans.

From the quaint houses, to the gas lights hanging from porches, to the whimsical outdoor decorations, all of it together giving you the feel of classic New Orleans living. Kevin and Wendy couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. I truly felt at home in their home. They offered guidance and stories about NOLA, spent time with me whilst consuming their healthy breakfasts and provided a wonderful little canine ambassador named Boudin the Wonderdog. The highlight was introducing me to their friends at The Old Point Bar and bringing... More

Staying in Algiers

Neighborhood Profile
Algiers
Sitting pretty across the Mississippi River from the rambunctious French Quarter, the Crescent City’s second oldest neighborhood is as historic and as scenic as any – just a lot less showy about it. With its numerous 19th and early 20th century homes and plentiful parks and riverside green space for cycling and walking, subdued and low key Algiers yields the best views of New Orleans and offers a quiet haven from the hustle and bustle in other parts of town. Most of the area’s activity, for visitors anyway, takes place at Algiers Point where the famous Canal Street / Algiers Ferry has been the main attraction since 1827 and is still giving folks one of the best rides in town at very affordable rates. Restaurants, bars and music venues here all but guarantee the utmost of authentic experiences sans any hype or high prices.
